More advice needed - bringing hire car south to north

Thanks to the people who responded to my other posting about the European Healthcare Insurance card. My mum died this morning. Until we can all fly back to UK , I was thinking to bring my dad and sisters back to my house in the north. My brother-in-law is concerned that the car hire company for the car he hired at Larnaca said he can't take it north cos he won't be insured. Now we know the process is to get yourself insured at the border to come into TRNC but he's worried whether he can have fully comprehensive insurance. Does anyone know?

So sorry to read about your Mum.
Dont know how you could get a greek car fully comp in the north.
Would he not drive it to a border, park it up and then hire one in the north if he is that unhappy with not having fully comp ins.

Hi Pippie so sorry to hear about your mum what a terrible thing to happen especially when you were all expecting to have a good holiday together.
Unfortunately you will not be able to get comprehensive insurance for a Greek hire car this side, why don't you leave it at Metehan & arrange transport from there.

Sorry to hear the bad news. My sincere condolences to you and family.

You can hire car from Oasis Car Rental in Larnaca, tell them that you will take car to North... it will not be a problem.
You then arrange insurance for north at Bergamu border with Rabiye prior to arriving. I have put details before on the forum. Will search and give you full details.

Turkish Insurance at Pile Border - you collect it just before you cross over.
Approx 30 USD for 1 month. You can also choose 7 days for slightly cheaper.
Rabiye who has cafe in between UN and Turkish Crossing at Pile can arrange this for you.

Her English is not that great, so best to call her then text car details to her: car make, model, age, reg your Full name and driving licence number, date and time of crossing.

Ref above post - there is no crossing at Pile. The crossing is at Pergamos, some 5 kms+ further east.
