Help re CRB check for UK

Does anyone know if there is any chance of getting some sort of information from the local police for individuals returning to the UK who need a police check for a CRB check to be carried out in the uk.
And how you go about getting this done?

I saw a few months ago a comment on one of the Forums relating to permanent residency and that you can go to your local police station to have to provide the equivalent of a CRB check for the application. Not sure if you may do better going to say Girne or Lefokosa?

I got a CRB equivalent here a few years back but had to go to Lefkosa main police station, but that might have changed by now!!

We had to get a CRB check to purchase our property in the TRNC a few months ago and its issued from Scotland, as we required them urgently we had them sent to an address in the U.K, and then sent here filled them in an sent them back express registered, not sure if that helps.
