Have starting doing some craft work and quilting but don't know where to go to buy rotary cutters and boards etc or even if there is anywhere? At the moment I have to rely on amazon in UK - is there-anyone with any helpful advice or info please ?

Hur Deniz and the haberdashers in Girne are good starting points. There are some craft shops in the South too. If you want to meet other crafters, there is a group who meet at Cacoa next to Starling in Alsancak/Lapta every Thursday afternoon who would be happy to meet and help you.

There is also an excellent craft group who meet every Thursday at Cengis Restaurant, Esentepe at 10am. Some members do quilting.

There is a shop in the south where you will find the things you need. I could get the details for you if you wish.

Thanks for your help. I live in Iskele and it's as easy for me to go South to get to Girne so I would be grateful for directions please

Yes there is an excellent large craft group in Esentepe which is much nearer for you in Iskele details can be found here... http://www.meteor.org.uk.

The butlers wife has reminded me there is a superb quilting supplies shop in the South, you could come out having spent a lot of money!!

This is the way I go, it is a long way round but less complicated. Go through the Metehan crossing and follow the signs for Larnaca, when you have passed the Jumbo store on your left you will come down to a roundabout with the Metro Supermarket on the right hand side. Turn left here and drive down this road for at least 3 miles until you come to another roundabout, go straight across this roundabout and the shop is approximately 100 metres on the left. It has a small cafe next door with an icecream fridge outside. The shop does have craft in the name but I cannot remember the full name. If you were going from Iskele perhaps it would be easier going from Famagusta for you, you would have to work out how to get there from the directions above. Shops in the south close at 3pm on Wednesdays.

The Esentepe group meet on Thursday morning at 10am. We meet at Cengis Restaurant which is at Alkan Holiday Village.
There are usually around 30 members attending on any week, sometimes more. Occasionally the ladies from Tatlisu craft group come and join us and they show us what they have been doing. In the main the ladies from Tatlisu are Turkish or Turkish Cypriots, whereas our group are mainly British although we do have an Italian and a couple of Russian members. We do try and give a warm welcome to the club and make them feel at home whatever nationality they are. Please come along if you are interested in any kind of craft work.

Hi StrictlyTP,

That is where Just so Crafty used to be, but it has moved to the Village of Oroklini, lovely lady called Sarah runs it.
