Query re computer technician for software glitsch

Does anyone know of a reliable technician who can deal with software glitsches? Windows installer. exe has stopped working, and there are problems with accessing some of my Word files, perhaps because they were created on Word 2003 and somehow I've ended up with Word 2007. I've also got eXtend and want to set up an e-mail address on Outlook Explorer (if possible) so I don't have to use gmail any more. I rang one technician who was definitely coming but never appeared, and it would be good to find someone who could fix our computer on the spot.

Where are you based or do you have a laptop. My husband is as he puts it very definitely retired (software trouble shooter), is willing to have a look for you. Have a look at plantworlds.org. Some info about him and the site is all his own work. E-mail add. a_bizley@yahoo.com

Thanks for your help, Mel, I've e-mailed your husband. Didn't pick up your reply before as we've been busy taking our daughter around North Cyprus, she's been visiting us from the UK, had a grand time catching up.
