a little bit of this and that from a new member
I have a lot on my mind, but being new to the forum I hesitate. I would like to see how far we are allowed to go before posts are deleted, like it happened for Yourgozlu a few days ago, and a ban looming.I never took part in the slanging matches at 44, but must admit, to some extend, I found it refreshing. Very often there were a good debate, also about sensible topics, and very often with a 'punch' among the participants, until the 'nasty brigade' joined in.
I agree with Marion, it would be nice, if we all would tell who we are. I hope to be able to do that soon, but for now it is in my best interest not to tell, having enough problems as it is.
Some of the topics on my mind, not in any specific order, although some are more important than other, are
Love rats in The Old Harbor
Litter, also the litter I produce from everyday shopping
Stray dogs
The property problems here contra The European Court of Justice
Permanent residency, citizenship
KKTC contra being a part of Turkey. A difficult topic since no matter what we and the government want to do, Ankara is deciding.
Gardening. I have a cacti garden and still 30,40 pots with different cacti. And I am crazy when it comes to trees with flowers. A helping hand from a Daysi Dukes would be wonderful, but probably not possible. East and West you know.
Yes the list is long

Welcome to the forum banjo, take one step at a time - pick your first topic and get the ball rolling. Yorgozlu did not have a ban looming - posts were deleted because of past subject brought up that had caused problems on C44.
Anyway, fire away! Sounds like you will spice things up a bit on the forum.

Welcome banjo, I am sure you have a lot to contribute to the forum. I also enjoy a bit of healthy debate, and it is good to have the occasional difference of opinion, life would be very boring if we all agreed on everything, as long as it doesn't turn nasty, which I am sure it won't.
Can I just pick up on one of the topics that you mentioned, ie stray dogs?
I did enjoy 44, until it turned nasty, but one of the things that also put me off, were the number of posts re lost dogs, stray dogs, people describing their pampered pooches 'cute' toilet habits etc etc.
I like dogs, two of my best friends are dogs, hi, Zeus and Garip but, sorry Soner, can we have a separate forum for ALL animal posts please? When you get time.
As to your english, I had no problems reading your post, and unlike some of the unkind people on 44, I would never put anyone down or jump in and correct them for the smallest mistake. None of us are perfect. I look forward to some interesting posts from you.

Yes, welcome Banjo, ande I could discuss at great length some of your thoughts. Ihave been going to the Turkish Cypriot global Conference and several of the things you mention are being discussed. My pet one is citizenship!
But I have to admit that I am perfect, Butterfly,. I found that out a long, long time ago. How come? And am I being big headed? No, never. But you see, it is quite simple.
It is said 'Nobody is perfect'. Everyone tells me I am a 'nobody', so therefore it follows, that I am perfect!

Hi Banjo
Welcome to the outer circle, I think this forum will blossom with debate without the vile comments that pervaded the F44
Can you explain love rats at the Harbor??

Come on Banjo get the ball rolling ie: "Love Rats at the Harbour".
I do not miss the nastiness of 44 but I do miss some of the debates, some were better than going to the cinema and always good for a laugh.

I am back, so as Soner said 'let the ball keep rolling'/
Sorry, I have not been able to answer before. Went to see an ENT, was sent straight to hospital, with extreamely high blood pressure. It has been difficult to 'lower it' and some of the medication made me pretty sick. So if I from time to time disappear it is because I, again am running to hospital for emergency treatment. Any advise would on how to keep the blood pressure 'low' would be appreciated.
CHARITY STARTS AT HOME - SKF, Lefkoşa:
As I said, if some sort of entermainment for the children, and it would be lovely if it could be the day Soner hands over his contribution, can be arranged, incl. whatever they are allowed to eat, like fruit, juice and perhaps some sweets, I will pay for that. I have been talking with Soner about it.
BUT I have no idea how to arrange it. MARION you know a lot of people, and it was good reading SKF do arrange some 'fun' for the kids. Would you please help me? Or if anybody else know how? Perhaps from a childs birthday party? Any idea would be great.
I have noticed that a few of the subjects I mentioned caught interest, especially 'Love Rats', kimlik card, stray dogs, but not cacti. If possible, some day I will show a few photos of the lovely.

Welcome back banjo, hope you have fully recovered. No point in telling you this as you already know: - cut down on the salt and try and avoid stressful situations - especially heated debates on forums.... I think my blood pressure has rocketed over the last couple of months.
ps. your School Inglish is better than mine.
(before anyone has any bright ideas, it was a deliberate mistake.)

Hey Banjo, Where are you, cos i would be good if we could talk. I know the ladies at KSF very well, and they always welcome help. But they organise lots of things for the children, and it wouldbe important to liaise with them. They take the children and their failies away for a couple of days on the Karpaz, and they are doing that in June, and they tr to give the children extra treeats. I think it would be good if you met them. so that is why i ask whereyou are. Why not e mail me and we can talk further.

I love cacti and am starting a cacti and succulents garden. There's a great guy in Kaleburnu (one of the villages at the end of the island) and he has a really fun cacti garden with lots of other curious plants and artefacts. He gave me lots of cuttings.I just need to get the soil a bit a bit less heavy, too much clay.
so anyone having an outing to Dipkarpaz, please find me and bring me a cutting!! I'm happy to share.

As an ex 44 poster.I am finding it very difficult to come to terms with how slow the forums that are now avilable are.Hopefully,in time the debates will start again. But at the moment its all a bit nicey, nicey for me.No way am i in to personal slagging. But i must admit to thinking that none of the forums have the edge that 44 have.I will keep looking in though.

Re the cactus flower in Mssg 17, I've got a pic of exactly the same flower, I took it when we were living on the wheatbelt south-east of Perth, Western Australia.

Banjo - try acupuncture for your high blood pressure. I nearly carked it of heatstroke in Australia, got carted off with a BP of 220/160, hearbeat of 40, and they thought I'd have a major stroke and conk out. I survived but with a BP of 165/110. Refused medication, trotted off to see an acupuncturist who'd trained in China, and two sessions got my BP down to 135/85. Great stuff. There's a new age fair on at the Acapulco next weekend and if I remember rightly, there's an acupuncture practitioner attending. Good luck.

Soner:
Thank you also for your mail. Yes I know about salt, sugar and exercise. Stress! hmm. But difficult to handle.
Marion:
Sounds lovely, thank you, will e-mail you.
Stellastar 1:
Intrigued! And I thought almost everybody knew about, at least 'love rat no. 1' in the harbor.
MoBry:
Wauwww and I am worried! But surely 2 sessions can't be enough. Will have a look at the 'new age fair'
Dodger:
Why are you waiting for everybody else to start a good debate?
Tractorsafari:
If I were you I would surely start with cacti in pots. Clay is no good with cacti.

Re the acupuncture, Banjo, two sessions got my BP down to the level I mentioned. The lady acupuncturist talked of an overheated liver (sounds interesting, doesn't it?) and was really good. I always recommend someone who's trained in China, not someone who's done a quickie course. I had acupuncture years ago when I damaged my knee badly and the medicos were pretty useless, and I walked out of the premises without a limp. I got sensitive to heat when we lived in Victoria and endured a week of 40-47C and then the horrors of the February 2009 bushfires, with all the deaths and destruction, but since I got the acupuncture, I tolerate the heat much, much better. Plus my BP has stabilised. And the needles DON'T hurt!!!!
