Haberdashery and fabric stores South Cyprus

Could anyone put there please tell me if they are aware of any good fabric and haberdashery stores on the Greek side? I am a regular visitor to the ones here, particularly to mermaid and the old quarter of Lefkosia but there are certain things that I am unable to find. Help appreciated. Many thanks,

Dont know exactly what you need but there is an excellent shop this side in Lefkosia opposite China Bazaar that sells all sorts of sewing needs.

Thanks Deniz, is that the Chinar Bazaar by Lemar in Lefkosa? I'll have a look when I am next there.

If you turn right just past the state hospital, then left at the T junction go to the roundabout where Ataturk is on his horse, first exit the harberdashery shop is in the first parade of shops on the right. Presumably this is the one mentioned above. They do not speak English so if you can take a sample of what you require it will be much easier!

There's a great fabric shop just across the border called Crafty Ideas, selling lovely fabrics and loads of other sewing supplies. The way I get to it (and I've only been once so not 100% sure!!!) - at the "Olympic Ring" roundabout turn left and go about 5-10 minutes until you come to the Honda dealer on your left. Turn right here and keep to the right taking the right fork in the road. I'm pretty sure it's just up there on the right, next door to a café. If you google it a couple of the sites will give you a map to follow. Good luck!!!

I am looking for a shop that will have good quality cotton fabrics for patchwork also good quality cottons and cutting boards etc - please let me know where would be the best place to try

Just googled Crafty Ideas - looks like just the place I am looking for now just need to find it - is it walkable from the Ledra Street crossing?

Strictly tp, there are several shops in the ledra street area of Lefkosa that sell very nice quality cotton by the meter in some lovely designs which would be great for quilting, usually around 15tl per meter. Worth checking out if it's cottons you are looking for, I got some very nice florals from there.

Thanks - I will look in the Ledra shops. I expect they may sell batting/ wadding too.

However I really need to buy a large cutting mat somewhere at some point so may try to find So Crafty in the future - thanks for your help

Yes they sell wadding too, I think it was10tl per meter. It's not on display though. I haven't seen cutting mats any where in the north.

I'm going over to Craft Ideas Tuesday or Wednesday of next week, I can check if she has cutting mats and what price if you wish?

That would be great thanks. I have rotary blades on the way from UK but would be interested to find out if they have cutting mats at Crafty Ideas.
I have only been into Nicosia by bus from Famagusta so find some of the instructions on how to find Crafty ideas difficult as coming in from a different direction to most people I think.

Strictly TP, I've PM'd you but for everyone's interest, Crafty Ideas do stock cutting mats, 2 sizes approximately 50 euros and 30 euros.
To add to Tiadxb directions, it's not the right turn at the Honda dealer but the next right (Starbucks is on the left at the correct turn).
Crafty Ideas is about 1/2 km up the right hand fork, on the right, directly after a Petrolina station. She has parking right in front of the store.
And she has some brilliant fabrics in!
