Having visited all the Indian Restaurants in the Area, without a Shadow of doubt KAMARES is by far the best of all.

Excellent choices of dishes of beef, lamb, chicken, seafood, fish from a very large menu. Something to suit everyone

I gather the Indian cuisine is Bombay style rather than Pakistan region, the dishes a really true Indian style.

My wife had the Fish tikka masala curry which was tremendous, I always have the lamb madras which although is hot is full of flavour.

The service is second to none and very reasonably priced, have visited about 10 times and never been disappointed

I am sure it is wonderful, and look forward to trying it soon.

Although, I couldn't help noticing that this is your first ever post on this forum.

May I respectfully ask, that is it perchance possible that you are the owner, or perhaps closely connected to the owner of this restaurant?

I am sure that you understand my cynicism given the circumstances.

Assuming it is your restaurant,I wish you well in your business.

I have tried 3 Indian restaurants around Girne and Kamares is also by far my favorite. Can't wait to go again to try new dishes!

Visited last night with some friends, first time for us.
Have to say my lamb curry was only average, in fact the lamb was somewhat
Tough..
Overall pleasant place, but wouldn't rush back.

We went for the first time last week, very average indeed. I asked for a hot curry, tasted like tomato ketchup. Just shows how subjective eating out is!

re your disappointing meals at Kamares, did you complain?, I must have had 20/25 Madras lamb curry/balti at Kamares and it has been superb every time, having ate curry's for 40 years it ranks among the best, there must have been a reason why your meal was not up to standard it happens, hence you should always complain if not satisfied.
An example recently we have had two excellant meals at the cabin, recommended some friends this week and it was very ordinary Why who knows, consistancy is very important a restuarants, which for me Kamares has always been first class.
and no I have no relationship with the place, simply the best selection of proper indian food, incidently unlike many pakistani places Kamares import fresh spices from india which are far superior to local/turkish spice extract.
You really must try again and perhaps try something different.

Because I read the post on here and a friend recommended the place we thought we would give it a try. We are big curry eaters both here and in the UK. Whether it was just an "off night" or what I have no idea it never even tasted of curry after asking for it hot.

Brits are not well known for complaining so no we didn't at the time. We just won't go back, probably the worst curry I have ever tasted. By comparison tried our local the Courtyard last night, very tasty indeed, never had a bad meal there.

Hi Mollie, I honestly can't believe it was the worst curry ever, unless they have suddenly changed the Chef, but to my knowledge they have not, if you want a hot curry why not as I do say Madras which is a well know strength, I take your point re the Courtyard its a reasonable its a traditional basic run of the mill english/pakistani style chicken/lamb curry.
you really should give Kamares another chance are am convinced you will be suprised.
The biggest single factor with any Indian restuarant is if they change the Chef in a lot of case the blend goes to pot, I hope this not the case here as so many people have said it is the best.

Yes you should complain at the time in order things can be put right! However if the meal was as bad as you suggest the Chef must know unless he does not taste his own dishes before sending to the pass.

We went last weekend and while the food wasn't the best I've had here there wasn't a problem with the curries. The two things that put me off,i was drinking tonic water and got an airline size tin that was 3tl(a ltr bottle everywhere is 95/99kuros) and they gave us poppadoms when we sat down,i should say one and a half poppadoms between two of us.Reminds me when we went to Green Valley over the east of Girne and they gave us a quarter of a chapatti each lol.

I've been six times now and I have enjoyed it every time. The Sunday lunch is the best value and its not small portions either.
