I am in uk at moment but my daughter here read this morning the very sad. News that Nejmi has passed away that is all I know at the moment as she just read this on face book. Any other news I would be grateful to hear. A great character and quite young. God rest his soul.

Necmi Avkıran was, as you said, young ... only 59
He was found dead in his Bellapais home yesterday evening.
They think it was a heart attack, but there will be an autopsy today to confirm this.
The report also says he was much loved.

One of the few people I could call "a true friend" - known him since high school and spent a lot of time together in UK throughout our university life. A fanatic Cat Stevens fan, who was always helping people around him. It was always great fun and pleasure sitting down and talking with him. A true Cypriot with a heart of gold.

I am finding it very hard to believe he has actually passed away. His absence will always hurt. I am truly lost for words...
WAS VERY MUCH LOVED AND WILL BE MISSED BY MANY PEOPLE.
