Has anyone driven to UK on North Cyprus plates/log book??
What are the problems?? Border police? 'Illegal' Regime documentation?? and insurance??
I've driven from UK so I know the routes but have always been on UK plates and insurance (apart from Turkey)

Re: Driving to UK
Hi Genghis
I know of 2 people who have driven their TRNC cars (with TRNC plates/log books) to UK within the last 3 months and neither had any problems. Both went Turkey/Greece/Italy and down to UK. They purchased their EU Insurance at Anadalou (think that is right) Insurance in Catalkoy (opposite Haiwai bar) and it covered them all the way through. They didn't have any trouble at the borders and one has now reregistered his TRNC car onto UK plates.
Both of them were driving back with pets and had been to Kar for advise as to paperwork and routes and have also given positive feedback on their journey/experience to KAR.
Hope this helps.

ifonly.
Thanks for that info - very reassuring.
I wouldn't have considered going through Greece which I think is the best route although not the cheapest if you take the ferry cost into account

Yes it probably is more expensive due to the Italy ferry but there had been previous reports of problems with Bulgaria not recognising TRNC paperwork (in a different context) so they decided rather than run the risk of problems at Bulgarian border (and beyond !) with their car to cross Turkey into Greece (Ipsallah/Peplos border was used) and then through Greece to ferry to Italy. I think there are other routes (using ferry from Bodrum to Greek isles) but the one above had been used and was a known route - albeit not with TRNC car until the first one went that way in Sept/October.
Very picturesque route.

If you contact KAR they will take your email details and pass it onto the people who drove back (the ones referred to in "ifonly" posts). I am sure they will be able to help with any extra info that you need. KAR may also be able to help with info/experiences that they have gained and passed onto others.
You can email kar at kar@kyreniaanimalrescue.org or call them on 0533 8694098
