Traditional cobbler/shoe repairer required

IS there a shoe repairer who could repair a sandal chewed by a naughty puppy? The shoes are expensive black leather and have been chewed across the thick strap going over the foot. It could be repaired by sewing a new piece of leather in place of the chewed piece but I don't know if there is anyone who can do this here?

There is a guy at Karaoglanoglu who is just what I think you need. If you turn up the road that leads to ~Edremit (but which of course cuts across the by pass before it goes on to itsclimb to Karmi) form the main road. He is a few metres up on the right hand side. ~A little shop attached to a house. He is open mornigns and afternoons and closes for lunch. Sorry don't have a phone number or name, and maybe some else can give better direcitons. But if he can't do it no one can.

There is also a man near the Colony Hotel in Town but impossible to park.

Ok Marion, my directions are, from Alsancak to Kyrenia, pass the post office in Karaoglanoglu on your right and take the first turning on your right and the shoe maker/repairer is on your right about 100 yards up, good luck, am sure you will have no prob finding him.

Thanks Barbie. Makes so much more sense. I forgot about the post Office, and in fact my mind went blank on landmarks. Could not remember the names of the shops on the corner of the road. I am sure the original poster should now find him.

Fantastic bloke. Repairs (and makes) shoes and belts. Repairs, handbags, suitcases, wallets. Instructions are good, but blink and you'll pass his place. I jam my brakes on when I see the Muhtas offices and car park, then I know I'll not drive straight past!!

I am really grateful for the information. We did drive to try and find this guy but couldn't find him. Anyway, we were in the old town in Nicosia yesterday and found a shoe repairer at the back of Buyuk Han who did a fantastic job. Massive thanks to all you helpful people. This forum is an invaluable source when you are a newbie resident.

Glad you've been able to get what you want, but do try the guy in Karaoglanoglo again, you won't regret it. As I said, brake as soon as you see the one storey Muhta offices, pull in there and the repair man is in the little white painted one storey building next door. He has a glass fronted door with a notice giving him his opening times (which I admit do waiver about 15mins either way on occasions!!)
