the lira now seems to be in freefall where it will be as at 31-12-2014 nobody knows but if everyone agrees why don't we make it interesting and have a small bet with the proceeds going to a needy cause , lets say 5 lira per person and the winner which is the nearest to on the 31-12-2014 can choose where the proceeds go .

on my sceen lira now 3.9121 to the pound .

With investors in tl standing to lose thousands of £ if the tl keeps depreciating I think the last thing they are interested in is having a bet where their money will be in 11 months, that's if there will be any tl soon.

I must admit that as I'm sitting here watching my savings and for that matter, my day to day living expenses, devalue each and every day, I don't feel very much like betting on my financial future. B.T.W I don't speak for anyone else on the forum other than myself.

My 5TL bet is in my draw.

TL on the date you mention,i guess will be 6.1TL to the £

Although i hope not as it puts up the prices for us when importing products to the island.

Just working out from one salary how much we have left to live on,
1 year ago when we first moved into our rental was 697tl (£250) per month
Now 977tl (250tl) ! (If its 3.81 as said above)
so now nearly 1000tl per month on minimum salary befor electrick & water etc .
The sterling is suffercating the people working on minimum salary. Not good

Don't think it is in freefall at all, it closed at 3.78 having been up to 3.94 suggesting it is being heavily supported.
Some are wise and some otherwise.....

From the BBC website....The Turkish lira edged back from a record low of
2.39 per dollar after the central bank announced an emergency
policy meeting for Tuesday, the first since August 2011, at the
height of the euro zone debt crisis.
The announcement raised market hopes that Turkish
policymakers would ignore political pressure and hike interest
rates aggressively to support the currency. It drove the lira
1.9 percent higher from Friday's close, to 2.2895.
