This from NEU:

Our hospital itself doesn't offer any medical insurance
packages, however, there are a number of insurance
companies on the island which do offer medical cover.
Examples include; Groupama, Anadolu, Mapfre, Allianz to
name but a few, alongside some of the banks as well. The
likes of BUPA and AXA and other international brands also
offer coverage here in the TRNC but can sometimes work out
more expensive.

my main concern is that we insure our cars, doubly.... third party, and fully comprehensive. An accident happens, the car is put right...... but if you are injured, you have to pay the hospital bills.
IMHO, sod the car, it's my health that is my prime concern.
I was almost in a near fatal accident the other morning with my grandson in the car. Indicating to turn right, yes, I formed a queue, and a pleb decided to overtake me, it was only in second, that I saw him in my wing mirror, and braked hard to avoid him hitting me in the drivers door. There goes for the grace of God go I.

flowerfairy,
Your comments seem to indicate you may have health insurance so would be interested what and who with?
3 years ago a quote for health insurance for two of us was over £2k and that was with £5k excess. To reduce excess to it to over £3k and there were still limitations in cover.

We went down this road ourselves here in the TRNC about 3 years ago and at that time we were 70 and 67 resectively. The premiums we were quoted were within a £100 a month less than out total monthly pensions. It was a no. no at the time and will obviously be even more so now. I think if you're in your 50's you might be able to pick up something reasonable with some of the banks. BTW, when we moved here almost 9 years ago PPP (Private Patients Plan) who we had been with for 7 years in the UK , wanted a premium of £10,000 per annum to cover us out here!!!

For accident insurance (not health insurance) go and see Yilshen at the Near East Bank (near HSBC in Girne). We have accident insurance for 40 TL - yes 40 TL, which covers us for any accidents including injuries incurred in a car accident

PB, correct me I've wrong though, isn't that 70 maximum (they were discussing up to 75 at one time but said they weren't going to publicise it,people would have to ask personally)

Sophie, there was a special offer which covered over 70s as well, but when I applied I was told that the special offer was over and that the upper limit was 65!! I asked Yilshen to check, which she did, and told me that there was no problem and sold me the policies for my wife and myself (we are both over 65). Best talk to Yilshen and get the correct information.

I found this link but the hospitals are in Turkey. It does give a long list of Insurance companies for Healthcare.

http://www.acibadem.com.tr

When you click on the link it comes up with 3 squares, scroll down to "International Patients" then into "Patient Stories" then into "Patient Guide" and the list of Internal Insurance Companies is on this page.

It also makes interesting reading for what this company does although would think i's quite expensive but I have known people to go from TRNC to Turkey for certain kinds of treatment, but obviously cost could be an issue.
