number of floors allowed for new build apartment blocks?!

Does anyone know how many floors are allowed to be built in apartment blocks? I know it used to be 3, then went up to 5. Am I correct in thinking that it then went back down to 3. Maybe they have changed it back to 5 again?! They have started clearing more land next to our block and I am worrying about what is about to be thrown up!!!! We already have one new block on the other side which is 5 stories high and it's not very pretty ,.Is there anywhere that people can go and view plans, planning permission etc.Or presumeably builders can just do what they want regardless of any permission, laws and stuff. Any comments would be very much appreciated.

Floor permissions are set differently from location to location. All the background and emotional information you provided, you neglected to state where you live so an accurate answer can be given to your question.

I am in Taskent, and here building permissions allow 2 stories max, it has been and probably will be like this for a long time

Probably best to speak to the local Belydiyesi, they should know something.
If not then you have told them something is going on in their area!
I#m sure you are entitled to details if you are a local.

we are in central Kyrenia! I didn't know that it depended on the area where you live!!!!

They are just building a ten storey block by the water fountain and there are four seven storey ones under construction in the same area.

In central kyrenia, all floor restrictions are lifted as far as I know.

There are few 10-12 story buildings going up, and 7 story buildings are becoming a norm in Kyrenia region. If they are starting fresh, I wouldnt expect it to be any less than 5 stories minimum.

Christ 10 floors, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I lived on the top floor.
I take it they have elevators in these blocks so should be more work for the fire service when there is a long power cut.
I love cyprus as there is always something new to talk about.

Thanks kbasat! Oh well nothing we can do. Will just wait and see what gets built!!!!! I know that new building tailed off a bit a few years ago but it now seems to have taken off bigtime! Thanks for your replies.
