For anyone about to embark on this process but not through a garage, the charge is now 302tl at Lefkosa registration office. Come back DVLA all is forgiven!!. This is after you have paid either Muhtar or Notar for their services.

It is also advisable to have all names(even non drivers) on the log book, as if one partner dies the other cannot change or sell the car, without probate.

Charges are different depending on the age of the car. Before the price rise they used to be:

Under 5 years old - 261TL
Between 5 and 10 years old - 157TL
Over 10 years old 105TL

Not forgetting that "old" is worked out from registration date to date of name change and not on actual age of car.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

Normally, from a garage then the garage will pay. Private sale is by agreement between buyer and seller. You want the car then be prepared to pay the extra £100.00 to have it. From private always check there are no outstanding fines on the vehicle or you buy them as well!
