I would find that restriction difficult to live with. What do others think?

Re: Turkey’s new internet law will affect the TRNC
The change in law regarding the internet has not effected the TRNC whatsoever as the IP used by Telephone companies in North Cyprus have nothing to do with the IP in Turkey, the only way it can be changed is if the TRNC government pass a law as in turkey to block the web sites.
I am still using all the websites as normal.

Re: Turkey’s new internet law will affect the TRNC
The article states that those who have internet servers in Turkey will be affected. As Erkin has sai,d for those of us here in TRNC it will not apply if we have local servers, unless the government makes aruling to fall in line with Turkey.
That may never happen or it may happen tomorrow.

I agree - its a case of wait and see, however it could be a 'China' situation for us all in North Cyprus.

Copied and pasted from the then proposed Draft bill....................
According to the amendment, the draft bill is designed to:-
“protect; family, children and youth from items on the Internet that encourage drug addiction, sexual abuse and suicide,”
If approved, the draft law will permit officials to easily limit keywords, meaning access to videos on popular websites such as YouTube will be blocked if they include keywords deemed ‘problematic’ by Turkish authorities.
Also, Internet users in Turkey will have the following information logged against them for up to two years. They include;
Details about what sites have been visited, which words they have searched for on the web and what activity they have engaged in on social networking websites.
Turkish Internet service providers will also be required to become members of a ‘new Internet union’ to be formed under the control of government.
The draft bill was submitted not long before the US social media website ‘Vimeo’ was blocked in Turkey. The site is now accessible in Turkey, however this action has now worried many people who fear Turkey’s Internet censorship will become like China and seriously damage freedom of expression on the Internet and social media.
Turkey’s prime minister; Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has openly described Twitter as a "nuisance."
A spokesperson for the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) Hüseyin Çelik said; “Turkey is not China and will never be like China in this manner. Aren’t we all in consensus on having some laws about social media and Internet media? There can be regulations based on world standards anywhere in the world,” said Çelik.
If the draft bill is approved, the minister of transport, maritime affairs and communications as well as the head of the Telecommunications Directorate (TİB) will be able to block websites without obtaining a court order.
Under the current law, Internet monitoring is achieved via your IP addresses and only while the user is accessing certain pages on the web. But if the amendment is approved, authorities will also be able to closely monitor the intricate details of what we access on the Internet.
Many argue the new proposed amendment goes against the constitution and will restrict freedom of expression in Turkey.
It is hoped by many that the Constitutional Court will annul the draft bill, as it is a direct violation of freedom of expression.
Currently, the amendment to Law No. 5651 on cybercrimes is pending and waiting to be discussed by Parliament.

Could be wrong but the way I understand it is TRNC lines are effectively transit lines and whilst they go through Turkey they have special "dispensation".
That said I am sure someone who really knows will give us the full SP

I cannot speak for all Internet providers, BUT:
Multimax goes through a transit line THROUGH Turkey, and we are not bound by their regulations. Laws of Turkey will never affect Multimax.
