Blondie - so very lucky - but Bamboo Lucky is not so Lucky
I am so pleased with the recent forum reports about poor Blondie. I so hope that she recovers and stays safe in her "street/new adopted" home. It is lovely that forum members have offered support - and Owl Lady was kind and true to her word (as she always is - thank you) with her donation - it all will help Blondie i hope.
BUT how many of us remember Lucky - the poor poor dog from Bamboo Market who was so badly shot !! There was a big campaign for help and support. Many new articles and internet campaigns followed with promises of help. These continued following her transfer to KAR. Many promises of help were offered to KAR to help Lucky. How many promises were carried out ?
Not many apparently it seems.
Poor Lucky is still at KAR.
No donations have been received to help with her on going care (despite being promised).
No one has been to KAR to visit her (despite being promised)
No one has been to KAR and offered to walk her (despite being promised)
No part time care or safe street home, as an alternative to life at KAR Rescue Centre, has been received (despite being promised)
No one - it seems is interested in her anymore (despite being promised)
She is now called UN Lucky.
I have no doubt that Blondie will be much more lucky than Lucky - i wish Blondie so much happiness.
But i am so so sad for the UN Lucky (AKA Lucky). Please think of her and remember all of the promises that were made - surely she deserves the same as poor Blondie.
Can any one help UN Lucky ????? !!!!!

Re: Blondie - so very lucky - but Bamboo Lucky is not so Luc
Thanks for sharing that. Very few of us knew that. unfortunately I was not able to make any promise, sbut maybe those who did, for one reason or another, were not able to fulfill them. Maybe they have gone back toU.K,l . I had stu0pidly assumed that someone had taken lucky to a new home. Silly me for assuming. And maybe lots of others assumed the same.
So thanks for reminding us all, and maybe Lucky's luck can be turned around and take off the 'un' . What happened to both those 'Lucky' dogs proved to be unlucky with one losing its life.
What do you thin is the greatest need for lucky>? A home? And what is the second priority need. Maybe you can make us all feel guilty enough to do something.
I wonder how Lucky feels although maybe she is happy surrounded by the family of dogs up there.

Ifonly - thank you for remembering (Un)Lucky who is the shot Bamboo Market dog. I am afraid everything that you have said is true. There were promises of help from many people - one person in particular was adamant that he was going to be raising money amongst Lucky's supporters to help with her keep at KAR. So far nothing has been received.
There were promises that people would go up to the Centre to walk her as she was not used to being in a kennel environment. So far no one has been, or asked, to walk her.
There were promises of part time respite care as she was used to being at home. To date no respite care has been offered.
We have had only 1 or 2 enquiries into her well being and that was right at the beginning.
Sadly the offers of promises that never materialise is not an unusual occurrence for KAR.
UnLucky is NOT happy at the Centre. She never has been. She has not settled at all and very recently her behaviour is really very concerning. She is a very unhappy dog.
The outcome for UnLucky is not looking good - Not good at all i am sad to say.

Having had to put my street dog to sleep today, I would say unlucky is still lucky, better to be with Kar then where mine is right now.

Re: Blondie - so very lucky - but Bamboo Lucky is not so Luc
I placed a request for re-housing for Lucky with my daughter's friend in N-E Scotland who re-homes dogs from Europe but sadly no takers. I hadn't heard any further news of Lucky and assumed she'd been adopted as I'd heard someone was going to visit KAR with a view to giving her a home. This dog really does deserve better as she's had a rotten start in life - her owners having to return to Vietnam and leave her and her sister behind, then her sister getting shot and killed and Lucky getting shot but surviving. Surely there's someone out there who can offer her a home. We'd gladly do so but we already have four dogs and three cats, beyond us to adopt another dog. Can her plight be made into a sticky as she is one really deserving dog.

Unfortunately lots of things are said in the spur of the moment, taking on an animal is a responsibility and if Unlucky now has problems she will need lots of time and patience. I do hope somebody is out there but I must admit after having 3 dogs its a case of never again.
fingers crossed for her she finds the right person

Re: Blondie - so very lucky - but Bamboo Lucky is not so Luc
There are some dogs who relish being with other like minded "lost and strays", there are other dogs who never in a hundred years adapt to be in a compound with other dogs, regardless of the fact that they are well fed regularly and are checked over by KAR staff with regard to any on going heath issues and UN-Lucky is one of those animals. It is regretable that there were a number of people who sat at their PC's and as a result of being moved by Lucky's plight had a knee jerk reaction and promised nothing short of the earth to KAR for her living costs, walks, new homes, vets fees etc. Virtually none of these were forthcoming. In honesty it would have been better if people had kept quiet. I have no idea whether people made these offers to make themselves feel better or whether to impress others on the forum, but whatever they felt, most of it was hot air. (having said that as a result of the initial posting one or two people in the last week have taken some food into the KAR office). Lucky is now a very unhappy dog.

Owl Lady - I have reprinted my original post with another request for people to help find a home for Lucky. I hope it sets the record straight.
