turkcell latest con
the latest scam by turkcell to get more money out of you is that all your unanswered calls go straight to voice mail even if you dont want them to, on there web page the english button has now gone so after a bit of fumbling about i find to hear the left message is free but the sms they send you to tell you have a message they charge you for
as yet i cannot find how to cancel it if anyone knows how to
please let me know as i dont want my calls going to voice mail !!

It's very easy to cancel it - go into their office (as I did) and tell them - according to the girl in there, quite a few people are cancelling this so called seervice!
I guess you could ring their support line but I was passing their office in Girne so it was just as easy to stop.
The ringing tone does not ring long before the answerphone kicks in so if like myself where my husband has a hearing problem - trying to get him to answer the phone is ridiculous as I had to ring 3 or 4 times before he heard it
Apparently, the cost of leaving a message is the same as a cost for a call however I could not get an answer from her regarding whether I get charged when ringing someone and the answerphone kicks in and I don't hang up quick enough.
In addition to the new messaging service there is another of which I have cancelled; if you miss a call because your phone was engaged or you went south where it doesn't work - Turkcell send you a 2185 message (which they charge you for) to list the nubers you have missed.
Check your statements as I was also getting a charge every so often for internet service - I don't even have a phone that I can log onto the internet to read my emails etc!

Andrew did you figure out how to get the web page changed to English or do I have to go into Girne office again to get them to change it ?

I don't use either I just use EE, a uk sim card with international calls and texts.
My phone is set up to switch to wifi (so using wifi based calls and texts) when there is a signal.

If you want voicemail and 2185 removed from phones, does the owner of the phone actually go or can someone else go for you. We have contracts not pay as you go phones.

Sophie, I don't know is my answer however I went in gave them my (and my hisbands) phone numbers, confirmed our names and asked them to cancel these facilities, they did not ask for anything.
Or do as Butterfly has and ring them - it will save you a trip.
