Irresponsible British Drivers
Why do some British drivers think its clever to allow their dogs to be poking their head out of the window of their travelling cars.
I almost decapitated a very unfortunate dog yesterday and received a stupid smile from the owner of the car .
This is a very dangerous and stupid practice.
Rant over!

Agree not clever but maybe your rant would be also better directed to the locals that have their kids heads out of the window and standing up too'

Terry.
Yes I agree and it's a serious issue.
However I rarely see locals driving with their dogs head hanging out of the window -it appears to be a Brit thing.
Can you image this happening on the M25 ?
I think maybe the sun has affected their brains or lack of.

Why when you a blow into a dog's face it doesn't like it, but it will stick it's head out of a car window no problem?

If you nearly decapitated said dog you were probably far too close to the car!! I can remember we did this as kids and certainly our dogs all loved to drive with their heads out the window.

You obviously don't like Cypriots, so why are you here?Owl Lady wrote:where's the problem in decapitating one of them? tin hat now going on!!
You have no problems with innocent Cypriot children being decapitated?
I suggest you take off your tin helmet and stick your head out of your car window, preferably when a ''too close'' ex pat is driving past.
Remember, no matter where you go, there you are.

Re: Irresponsible British Drivers
I really would try to understand a local who had never been out of his own domain to be skeptical and racist, but how is it possible for someone to be living in a foreign country and bash on the local population in every opportunity???terry2366 wrote:Agree not clever but maybe your rant would be also better directed to the locals that have their kids heads out of the window and standing up too'
This is a totally unacceptable response to the original topic (which I also do not agree with by the way, but its another subject)
As a Cypriot, I like to say the hell with your stereotypes and racism, shame on you.

Re: Irresponsible British Drivers
I concur with Panochat - how do you know the driver was British, did you stop and remonstrate with him/her and voice your opinion? There are a number of things here in the TRNC us 'yabancılar' find questionable or disagree with. Simple solution, if you do not like living here with all of its warts - move and stop bleating. Kemal, "As a Brit, I also would like to say the hell with your stereotypes and racism, shame on you." You have my support here.

Re: Irresponsible British Drivers
Tom,
You have to trust me- it was a Brit.
As for living in the TRNC with warts and all-We have lived here for 7 years now and just love the place so why the aggression?
IMO dogs poking their heads out of moving vehicles is a dangerous practice as experienced recently by a good friend who's dog spotted a sheep then jumped out of the car window and attacked the poor animal.Surfice to say the police were called and my friend received a caution.

OK Blue butterfly, my apologies, my remark wasn't directed specifically against Cypriot children. Sorry if it caused offense. I do love living here, warts and all and have done for 9 years.Tin hat off and head out the window.

Re: Irresponsible British Drivers
Well well Kemal that's a shock. So you condone the deaths of children here in accidents purely because they are not strapped in,sitting on someone's lap standing up in the car or leaning out of the window. .i love this place and have been coming here since possibly before you were born. I just wish some people would take more care of their children than possibly yourself if you condone it? As to being racist a good thing to put in for a bit of publicity ? Who do you think these drivers are then you seem to travel a lot and must see it all the time. Just give me your opinion as it would be greatly appreciated.?? Maybe you should stand outside one of the schools in kyrenia to get your answer.
I also notice you did not accuse the original poster of being racist this surely makes you racist your self!!!

Re: Irresponsible British Drivers
I must be missing something here, where did Kemal say that he condones children dying, surely nobody in their right mind would do such a thing. I have to admit that when I see children in cars without seat belts or car seats it makes me shudder, it is stupid, it is irresponsible, but it's down to the Police to enforce the laws of the road.
As to racist remarks, there are Brits here who are racist but there are also Turkish Cypriots who are racist too, many of my TC neighbours tar all Turkish mainland people with the same brush so they also stereotype people.

Re: Irresponsible British Drivers
@terry2366, I just do not understand how in a topic that has a heading of 'Irresponsible British Drivers' -> somebody complaining about dogs sticking their heads out of window -> instead of replying on topic, you can compare it to children with 'Cypriot' cars, which has nothing to do with the original posting -> When I say I dont accept such stereotypes and those comments are unnecessary -> I end up 'condoning deaths of children'????
Really?!?!?
If you like to speak about children and safety of them in cars in North Cyprus, start your own topic and we will all participate. Otherwise, if you kill somebody in the UK, saying 'yea but 10s of people die in Ethiopia every day' is not a defense.
Somebody complaining about British drivers and you are dictating that it is not acceptable to 'rant' about a subject because there is - according to you - a worse situation that has to be addressed before anyone can talk about this one?
Well, if thats the logic, than I can then easily say you cannot rant about 'children in cars' in Cyprus until the train ride issue is fixed in India... and if you say the two subjects are not related and should not be mixed, I can then blame you for condoning deaths of even more Indian people trainriding...

Re: Irresponsible British Drivers
Kemal if you read my first post I agreed with the poster but thought the practice of drivers not having their children strapped in was more serious it seems to be a widespread practice here. Surely they when they buy these cars must wonder what the SEATBELTS are for ? As for accusing me of being racist because I mentioned locals you did not accuse the first poster of it why?. I personally hope that people driving in this country would use common sense with regards SEATBELTS . But the standard of driving here is way below that required in most European. Countries so I assume the test is of a lower standard maybe you can correct me on this. I bow to your knowledge on Indian railways the nearest I have travelled was the Malaysian ones.

How did we get from dog's heads out of car windows, to Indian and Malaysian railways, Can't we end this one now?
