Not as far as they said. I think it is no further than last year when they finished phase 1. ut I believe a kiosk is open for drinks etc. But I don't go there, cos no bikes, no dogs. And as I have a husband who can hardly walk, then I cannot enjoy this walkway. I have enjoyed them in other countries where everyone was catered for. O.K. (off thread! - sorry). But I do know that Silver Rocks thought the stretch past them would have been completed by now, butnot sure it is even started.

But I am sure there are others who know far more than I. Do tell!!!

It would be nice if one was built on the Catalkoy side as well, going into Girne. There would be a lot more walkers and more trade up and down that main drag. I haven't seen the lapta walkway yet but I'm due over there in may and will go and investigate.

No bikes no dogs? That's what the notices say but don't think English people can read, went there three times during our stay Dec to March, twice saw the same lady with two children on bikes and a dog not on a lead, the last time we went counted four people with dogs no leads, all English.

The first stretch of the 2nd phase from Lapta end of walkway to Silver Rocks is well under way. If you drop off the road just past the caravan park you can see the progress.
From the end of phase 1 we could see a lot of ground work going on west of the fishing harbour.

The problem I can see is that to be finished by summer there needs to be some work on the sections to be built across water. The positive is that work is on going and looking good.

No progress at the Lapta end.
I haven't seen a workman for three weeks now! The walkway looks very nice and is complete from the caravan park to about 100 yds short of Silver Rocks.
Presumably they are waiting for the bridge to be built over the Silver Rocks little cove.
I think the bridge is a mistake on the grounds of cost and maintenance. I wonder what the sea will do to it over time??? It also seems a pity to 'spoil' a pleasant natural cove and its uninterrupted view.
I assume Silver Rocks lease the foreshore which is supposed to be open to all? Accepting that some deal has been done, it might be better to detour through the car park rather than go for the bridge option.
Another problem is that the foreshore is covered with broken glass, bottles, plastic and all sorts of rubbish. It seems to be a popular place for late night drinking/take aways BUT the rubbish never is!! There are no bins so there is some excuse but will they ever appear? It needs a jolly good tidy up!!
A further thought is that the path is not very wide. Prams, wheelchairs, mobility scooters, roller skates, skate boarders, picnicers, fishermen let alone dogs and bicycles!!!!
All being well it should make an attractive attribute to Holiday Lapta.

People walking dogs and children on bicycles, shoot them on sight I say!

There should be a bridge further along to at the cove where Aphrodite restaurant is. I am not sure they have a true comprehension of the power of the sea though.

Work has resumed on the last hundred yards at the Lapta end adjacent to Silver Rocks.
It ends as it starts with a circular area of paving.
No sign of anything to do with a bridge. Maybe that's gone the way of the cable car to Hilarion Castle!!!!

I think not. Apparently some measurements/work has been done across and in the bay there. I always wonder about the idea of a uni-directional track. How do you get back from the other end? Walk back the way you came I suppose!

I have never been on this walkway. Where does it start and how far is 'walkable'?
cheers

This is a good, pleasant, but short walk. I was surprised when I came to the end all too quickly. I don't have a dog over here, however, I can see how it would nice to take the dog for a walk - just clear up your mess. I can understand why they do not want bikes as it is not very wide, but perhaps in time they will extend to allow bikes as well. The UK have some great proms where pedestrians and bikes can use the path side by side so you never know...

Its a really nice walk, and there are bins to put rubbish in, it is a shame they did not put a bike track when they started to build it, but I cant see a problem with bikes on it as long as the riders are careful, and dog owners pick up your dog mess, why is it that people have to moan about things, just enjoy the walk and the view, forgot there is also benches along the walkway.

Not moaning, there are notices up saying no dogs or bikes this will be so it is a safe area to walk, as everyone doesn't pick up the dog dirt this rule wll be to keep it a clean area to walk, at least cars can't get on to it making it the only footpath in NC clear to walk on!
