Estate Agent Recommendation?
We are just about to put our property on the market and wondered if anyone could give feedback on local estate agents - the good, the bad etc. we would be very grateful. We're in Alagadi so obviously someone strong on the east side.

From experience, I would suggest Calendar Properties at Karakum .She has been in the property market administration for over 10 years in Cyprus and handles rentals and sales very effectively. If you want to contact her then please phone her (Jackie Duba ) on 0533 8487729.She also does property management and we have her to do ours and are very happy with Hope this helps. the way she looks after us, at very realistic prices.

Wee typo error there!!!! But you get the format!!! We have all been very happy with this company in the way she has managed both sales and rentals in our complex.

There are many, but could I recommend you try (among others) the ones that advertise here and in KibKomTimes - two are Korinia and Ian Smith . But I would suggest you look up the web pages of all, call in and see them, speak to them, make sure of their credentials and then decide. One problem is that there are those who would swear by a certain one and others who say 'oh no'! Do your homework and find one you feel you can trust, and remember that the market is not what it used to be, or might be.
And also bear in mind that many people who are selling are accepting ridiculously low offers, but then that is because it suits them. Some people have bought as a holiday home, enjoyed it for several years, and can afford to sell at a low price because they have another home. Those whose only home is here, cannot afford to do that.
So, find an agent you can trust who will be honest with you as to the chances of your selling and getting the price you feel you want.
Good luck.

Re: Estate Agent Recommendation?
What area of the TRNC are you looking to purchase in? Each area has good, poor, awful and deceitful property interests across the industry (hence many expats have left here). Check that the locale of the property is located where you can get Permission To Purchase (PTP), ie - not near military facilities/pre '74 Turkish owned etc. Research, ask previous purchasers, contact BRS/HBPG, seek views of those outside of the property business here. Finally, ask yourself the question, "Do I actually need an estate agent, what can they do I cannot"? We certainly did not use one, nor did any of my neighbours. Final tip, and I wish I had known this prior to purchase - "No kocan, no cash"! If you decide to go ahead, good luck - I fear you will need it in spades!

Donegal Real Estate. Nicola: 0533 823 1115 based in Karakum - almost opposite Soydan Petrol Station and next door to Dolphin. Very helpful - do telephone or just pop in for an informal chat and a cup of coffee

Re: Estate Agent Recommendation?
Although I used an estate agent to buy I agree somewhat with tomsteel.
Do your homework, talk to people to get both sides. At the end of the day its the property which counts, not who sells it.
If you are selling there are lots of people looking, put your details on forums etc. Someone may have cash in the bank ready, so no estate agent is required just a good solicitor.
