Flies, mossies and other flying insects
As we don't have fly screens I'd be grateful for advice on the most efficient way of keeping flying insects to the minimum inside the house. Thanks

johnerebus,
I don't think there is a solution apart from fly screens. I couldn't live out here without them.
A) the dog goes bonkers chasing flies, ok outside but inside everything goes flying in her wake in her pointless quest to catch them.
B)I get bitten not only by the mossies but in April/May we seem to have an onslaught of tiny flies that resemble ordinary household flies. They bite and boy do they irritate
If you don't have a fly chasing dog & are not susceptible to insect bites you may well manage with a can of insect spay and a flyswat

Not opening windows/doors will keep 'em out! best thing is get them with fly spary when you see them.
Seriously though early evening is the worst time for the little blighters so make sure you use something on your skin eg Avon Skin so Soft which mozzies hate and will prevent you being bitten too much.
Spraying your bedroom with fly spray, especially under the bed, will also kill off any lurking in your room.

We burn incense, they dont seem to like it, also I heard that taking a garlic capsule can help. I think the blighters that bite your ankles could be sandflies which is the carrier of lieshmanosis in dogs. We flutex spray the bedroom a half hour or so before going to bed
