Bobbies start Girne patrols ?

Having read that Bobbies were going to be patrolling Girne ???
My question is
Has any one seen this patrol in operation yet ? Or is it simply paper talk ?

I saw them about 4 days ago!

When we were there in Feb twice we saw 2 police walking round Girne together, we passed remarks about it because you don't usually see one never mind two.

Last time we saw them they were in kerbab shop hence the photo in Cyprus paper says it all

No doubt about it, picture of the "boobies on the beat" is classic!!! They'd be out of puff after 200 metres if they had to run after anyone.

Maybe if they took a little book with them and fined all the people on the phone ,parking on yellow lines.pavements going the wrong way on one way streets etc, etc they would make a fortune for the govt!

This is simply not true, Most TC,s pay speeding fines and all other fines, yes of course some dont but the majority of people do, I know several families and they dont like it but have to pay up.

The new Tourism Police were out and about yesterday in town and around the harbour looking smart in their new uniforms, they were chatting to people and introducing themselves to shop and restaurant owners. Think its a great idea! they have them in most of the tourist areas in Turkey as well! The ones I were speaking to yesterday spoke English as well! very helpful if you are a lost or need directions tourist or need assistance!
