Not very often but I think its possible.

We have Social services and they run a children's village for children who does not have any relatives or if they cannot be looked after. I assume you should be able to get some assistance from them.

Good luck with helping a baby/child in need. There are so many in the children's homes that would love more than anything to have a proper family, I do hope you can help someone.

I had a look at the website but it seems to be old, 2009 was the last posting with a wish list for 2010. Is there a more updated site. Thanks for taking the time to put a link for this one.

If you ring up the village, ask to speak to Burcu Nesimoglu. She speaks excellent English, having been to Bristol university. She ha sonly recently started at SOS, and I am sure she will direct you to whatever department of the government is necessary. I have never heard of adoption here, but maybe that is because I was not looking.

Good luck.

They do have adoption here but they try to match each child as closely to their own culture as possible. The Social services office in Lefkosa should be able to give you the correct information.
Sorry i do not have contact details

My husband says there is no adoption here from the sos child homes and your best bet would be in turkey. I dont know if the private sos or the person marion knows does it but aparently the goverment one here doesnt.

My contact at SOS was fo rinfo only. I am pretty sure they don't adopt form there. Most of those children have a family somewhere, but are in the home as the best thing at the moment. But because Burcu speaks English and because SOS have contacts with the Governmen t, I thought she might be a good person to ask for contacts.
I don't think I have ever heard of adoption here, but I am sure Weddings is right - it happens in certain instances. However, if they do match the culture,e then an English speaker , non Moslem might not be acceptable.

But one never knows until one asks.

Your right marion about that, one doesnt know until they ask maybe they do it now days, my husband grew up in the sos childs home and from what he knows it doesn't matter about culture or muslim they dont let people to adopt. I do wonder why that is as there are alot of children in the homes here.
