Where to collect my UK passport

Can anyone help please. I have applied for my renewal of my UK passport and after 9 weeks (of arguing and problems) i have been informed that it has now been sent to High Commission Shakespeare Ave - as per my application, as per usual procedure, as per advised by Cafe Boss when we sent the original application through their DHL service.
Because of the problems we have had a "manager" from UK Passport advised us that it should be at HC today - if we don't have a phone call from them to contact them direct.
We contacted them this morning only to be told that they no longer have UK Passports sent there for collection by the passport holder !!! They say that they now go to the holders address in TRNC - BUT ours was addressed to Shakespeare Ave (blummin UK Passport office haven't even put British High Commisssion - just the address !!!).
Everyone i have spoken to were under the assumption that the process was the same as usual and you had to go to HC to collect them - noone seems to know different !
Has anyone collected their from HC recentlt ???? !!!!

After 9 weeks we thought there was light at the end of the tunnel- only to find out it may be a train !!!

When we renewed my wifes passport via Café Boss/DHL,it was delivered by courier direct to our address. That was August 2013.The local courier service called to make sure we were home.We were quite surprised as we were told it would be H.C Shakespeare House.

Ring the Consulate to find out where it is. If it went DHL, you should be able to track it anyway.

I've recently just renewed my son's passport and requested delivery to the High Commission, however I received an email from UK passport office advising that passports no longer go to the High Commission and are delivered to the home address, within four days the passport was received at Cafe Boss (not my home address) and I received a text and an email advising me. The whole renewal process took four weeks. It might be worth a visit to Cafe Boss to see if your passport has been sent there.

My passport is almost ready for renewal but after reading these posts I am almost afraid of doing this, although I know
I must. Can I get my sister in law who is visiting us next month, to bring out a renewal form, and take it back with
the relative photos and form plus present passport. If she posts it in the UK will the passport office send it back to Cafe Boss
by DHL if requested?

Butlers wife - The renewal I done was very straight forward the form is done online now and you pay at that point all you do is print off the declaration form and send that with the old passport, (which someone took back to UK for me and posted from there as recorded delivery). Four weeks start to finish. I filled it in saying I resided in Cyprus and it had to be sent to Belfast office, I did think they were efficient when they emailed me with regards to where the passport would be delivered to by DHL.
I also know of someone who filled the form in saying they resided in Turkey instead of Cyprus they had to send the form to Liverpool but I haven't heard as to what their experience was.
Hope this helps.

Thank you mishmash, will I need the full address of cafe boss on the form or do you put the full address of your home in the TRNC and request that it is sent by DHL to cafe boss?

I had my home address on the form and requested HighC DHL delivery so maybe input your home address and request delivery to
Cafe Boss.

.

I have to say that I can not believe that you let some one take your Passport to the UK from here, what a massive breach of security, the implications involved if they were caught are huge.

As you are required to carry your passport with you at all times here although i am sure many of us dont it is risky letting it go.

It would be my sister who would take my passport back to the UK and as I have known her all her life I trust her implicitly.
As regards carrying your passport at all times, this would prove impossible however way you sent it back to the UK for renewal.
Also I think carrying it around with you at all times is a big risk, you could lose it or leave your bag somewhere. I do however,
carry my driving license with me and when stopped by the police they have always been happy with this. I will photocopy my
passport before sending it back to the UK just in case someone wants to see it.

Update - the passport was sent with DHL and was addressed to HC . HC confirmed that they no longer accept passports for collection by owners. I then contacted the DHL agent in Lefcosia who told me approx when it would be in their office and confirmed that we could collect it direct from him - which we did. However you need a tracking no/weigh bill number or shippers ref number in order to get this information. He was very helpful and also said they are having problems with the passports being sent from UK as the passport office is not always putting the passport holders name and contact tel number on the envelope in the event that it cannot be delivered. Great service from DHL Lefcosia.
BUT UK passport office has still not sent back the old passport (despite being asked to on the application form and on the telephone) - this has the residency stamp in it !

Who on earth carries their passport around with them at all times a ridiculous suggestion and as you quite rightly say butlerswife, you are without it anyway when you send it for renewal.

I would play safe and send it back with your sister or go back yourself and renew it and do a little therapeutic shopping whilst you are there

The Law does say you should carry ID, IE your Drivers Licence, Passport, Kimlik or Blue or Pick Book.
