Good eating

My wife, being a Yorkshire chippie fish fryer, complains about the lack of decent fish 'n chip shops here. She was almost distraught when Ravine closed. We tried many after that but none came close, until now. My wife is on the East coast of Yorkshire merrily battering her haddock 'n chips, whilst I am entertaining my newly wed grand-daughter and husband. Having spent the first half of their honeymoon at the Watermill Hotel, Girne, they are now my guests. We heard about the fish 'n chips at Whiskey Joes from Sean, the shaven headed Scouse barman at Baxters, the sports bar underneath the Watermill. Not having much faith in the tastebuds of anyone west of Leeds I approached Whiskey Joes (why would a Scot put an "e" in whiskey) with trepidation. I must confess that my fears were unfounded. Brian, the landlord cum chef said that the fish was "saithe" I'll bet my wife has ever heard of this. All I can say is that it is delicious, plentiful and battered superbly. Being a card carrying Yorkshireman, I went between the hours of 5-00 and 7-00pm, the happy hours, when this bounty was 15tl. I am going back to UK on Sunday but I'll be back (apologies to Arnie) in early May, if the cheapo has finished, I'll gladly pay the extra 5tl, just to get brownie points from her, the chippie. Rock on Brian and Linda.
(ps I "borrowed two of your Menus, I hope you got them back) I was hoping to put them on here, will keep trying

The Cod & Chips at Hur Deniz (close to the Ship Inn) is superb, but costs 26 TL.

Spent a few hours at Whiskey Joe's today, watching football, and managed to have a Bacon & Tomato Roll, a Sausages & Onions Roll, and Fish & Chips, all of which were wonderful.

No more food for me until Monday!!
