Valuation of Antique Rings
I'd like to get two antique rings valued and wondered if anyone knew of a reputable and reliable jeweller to do this.

I use Mr Senak going down the steps to the harbour in Girne for all matters relating to jewellery.
He knows his gem stones. He also adapted an antique ring, belonging to a friend, beautifully.

The guy you mention is excellent. Professionally trained. However, it seems that unless you want a valuation for insurance, it means nothing! In the UK and here we and a ring and a bracelet valued at between £10K and £12K. Realistically, they are worth £800!! Only the gold value apparently..... Best of luck.

Never dealt with anyone else but Hüseyin at Senak, and I gladly recommend him.

Re: Valuation of Antique Rings
In reality, I wouldn't rely on any valuation with regard to an antique ring. Gold and stones here are based on weight and carats (as per TRNC valuation) but they do not appear to have any idea whatsoever about antique jewellery. I once took in an expensive Edwardian piece of jewellery and the bloke could not identify the age at all. When pressed he thought it might be Victorian or maybe 1920's. Best of luck whereaver you go.

Re: Valuation of Antique Rings
Thanks for the advice, everyone. I do have a valuation from years ago with exact details of gold and diamonds but want to find out present value, if possible.

Re: Valuation of Antique Rings
Dear Mobry as said above there is so much difference between what you can get for jewellery if you want to sell it & the value for insurance which is very very inflated. If it is antique it is probably irreplaceable due to the workmanship & also the sentimental value. IMHO you would be wasting your money to pay for a valuation in TRNC although we also use Huseyin at Senak who is very genuine & remade my antique ring despite specialising in new diamonds.

Re: Valuation of Antique Rings
Mimi78 - we have four dogs, best protection ever! In fact, although the rings have sentimental value, I am having them valued as I intend to sell them. I am 66, end of the line, and would like the rings to go to someone who can benefit from the loving relationships these rings represent - my grandmother's, my mother's and mine. I have no wish for the rings to be buried with me, what a waste! So I shall see what happens but would like to get a general idea of their value. I'm not holding myself to that, when the right person turns up and wants the rings, I'll settle on a price which suits their pocket.
