Bellapais Spring Festival

Can anyone shed some light on whether there is a spring festival on late April/early May? Whats on Cyprus says theres is one but when I go to the abbey website there is no brochure to download. Also, there are details of a festival starting mid May into June but not the earlier spring one.

If anyone has got details, or a link to details for the April/May dates that would be great.

I think there is a Silk Festival in Bellapais soon, but like every year lack of publicity for it. Does anyone know when it is on, or have I missed something?

Thanks for that link, but is the silk festival really on from 1st May till 31st May I thought in previous years it has only been a couple of days?

I thought the Silk Festival was one day or one week-0end.
However, when you speak of a 'festival' did you mean the music Festival The North Cyprus International Bellapais Music Festival. According to North Cyprus Events, it is:

Each year the International Bellapais Music Festival takes place sometimes between May and June each year. Since the first concert in 1996 this festival has attracted international artists to perform in stunningly beautiful Refectory Hall of Bellapais Abbey.

The refectory of the Bellapais Abbey is a wonderful place to host concerts, and the acoustics of the building itself are brilliant. Built in the 14th century under the patronage of the Lusignan kings, the Abbey is one of the most beautiful relics of Gothic architecture in Levante. During the night, the monastery is illuminated and with the combination of its arches you will feel as if you have been set in an other world.

Yes Owl Lady but the original poster was asking about a Spring Festival, not specifically a silk one, so I did not know what inof he wanted. Hopefully now he has his answer. And maybe wants to support both. I have already told the North Cyprus info that they have got their dates wrong. I know how it happens because of the computer setup when putting in the info.

I was at Bellapais this morning but did not even properly look at the banner for the Silk Festival. Maybe someone on the Forum lives that way and can say.

Hello,

The Silk Festival will start on Friday 2nd of May until Sunday the 4th of May.

There were brochures available at the car park next to Girne Belediye (Municipality building) at the kiosk where you pay the water bill.

I'll post more details when I find out more tomorrow hopefully.
