Wished we had gone to Lemar- not Supreme!!!
Only wanted just bits and bobs! We could have gone to any of the supermarkets but I chose to go to Supreme,
RESULT - One long legged, untagged young male(what we first thought as being a Cyprus poodle) just managing to not being squashed by an undisciplined driver of a very large truck and choosing to run to us for protection.
What do you do?
We took the poor thing home, set about bathing, de-ticking and cutting burrs out of his coat etc. which he was so very good allowing us to pull him about in this way, no aggression at all.
Once we took the top layers off we found his coat to be of a champagne colour, quite dreadlocked in texture and with his green eyes and different nose colouring we do not think he is of the pedigree Cyprus Poodle variety.
We introduced him, one at a time to our four dogs and he is fine with all of them, his favourite being Big Joe Cocker, who he was doing Formula One laps round the pool area.
He has had his dinner with them all, we took his bowl of him with no growls and he has discovered the wonders of chewing a Nylabone, pure bliss.
Downside is, four dogs fulltime in our family is more than enough but we cannot turn a blind eye to an animal in trouble and in the recent past, with the help of this forum, we have managed to find loving, forever homes for two other dogs.
Can we do it again, please !!!!!
Yes! With the Help of friends, we will try to put a picture of him on here but our sad old brains unfortunately are not computer friendly.
If you or you know of anyone who could give a home to this unique, loving boy please contact us. Thank you.
P.S. We feel that this another sad case of us civilised humans letting a poor defenceless animal down yet again, his behaviour and interaction shows that he must have been part of a family, so why is he now out on the streets.
KAR was phoned, they are bursting at the gills but have put him on their waiting list!

Definitely, next time Owl Lady.
Bedtime in our ' Old House' is going to be interesting. Fingers crossed he will be a good boy in the night so that the 'Other Half' will not have a strop on for work in the shop in the morning.
Just come up from the pool area, where all ''FIVE'' have been laid together just chilling.
Cannot stress what a 'cracking' dog he is.
We would be more than happy to see to having him ''done'' and micro-chipped, if this would help find him and giving him a happy life.

Hi Spider, that has happened to me 3 times today on one posting. Decided if some one hits the send button at the same time as you, the quickest one wins!!! Bit like University Challenge ( if you are old enough to remember that?)

Re: Wished we had gone to Lemar- not Supreme!!!
Trying again to get a post on, apologies if two come up at the same time!
Just a quick update on out new TEMPORARY lodger.
We had the two girls upstairs last night, and the three boys downstairs in the kitchen but on their own beds.
The only problem with the upstairs arrangement was that sometime in the early hours, Ruby one of our Cockers decided to jump on our bed and I was awoken to heavy breathing and big sloppy XXX's, not from my other half.
The boys downstairs appeared fine, no noise and when we went down to let them out about 6.00a.m., NO MESS!!!
We are both off to work now and we keep the dogs inside when we are out. Let's hope it is good news again when we come back.
Lor51, thank you for your offer and we will probably have to take you up on it but can we talk later. Thank you.

Re: Wished we had gone to Lemar- not Supreme!!!
Big thanks to Lor51 for helping us and 'Monty'.
The pictures, we think show what a loving, happy boy he is. We only rescued him 24 hours ago and the pathetic state he was in to what he is now is absolutely amazing. A little bit of TLC, coupled with other four legged friends and playtime and also feeling wanted and secure must be a magic mix.
An update on today, good news after being on their own for over 4 hours - No mess in the kitchen. The bad news Billy Boswell formerly known as Brandy, has definitely got a sulk on for having another male dog in 'His' house. Also we have noticed that Monty is a climber which makes our garden and pool area not totally secure. He actually visited our neighbour this afternoon who ,luckily is as daft on animals as we are, so no harm done.
Tomorrow is not going to be a nice day for him as he is going to have the 'snip'. Ouch! thinking about it make ones eyes water!!!
If this helps to find that special person or persons who will become his new family, then it will be worth it for him.
Are you out there? Come on ''It can be you''.

Re: Wished we had gone to Lemar- not Supreme!!!
Rightly or wrongly, took ''Monty'' to the vets this morning to have the 'snip', We think hopefully that having this done will give him a better chance of being offered a home of his own.
He was such a good boy again in the night, sleeping alongside our two boys in the house - No Mess!!!
Picking him up Monday morning and he will have a collar on for a couple of days, dissolvable stitches and job done
Please if you could or know of anyone who is thinking of adding an extra member to their family, contact us. We could bring him to meet you and yours, no problem!
Lot51 met him last night and she has posted on another forum ''What a gem he is''.We did not know how he would be with cats - no problem. Other dogs, best mates in seconds. Humans gives love, enjoys cuddles and has just about got it right in shaking hands.
He is very gentle on the lead, still hesitant about getting into the car but once in, settles really well.
Everything crossed and more on finding him that special home of his own.

BBB. You said rightly or wrongly about the snip. I know you made the right choice, he wont be able to make babies, it will curb his desire to make love to other male dogs and legs and things, it will stop him from smelling a bitch in heat and trying to do a runner. My personal opinion is that unless you intend to breed from a male or female they should be spayed/neutered. Congratulations on the right move in my mind.

Re: Wished we had gone to Lemar- not Supreme!!!
Monty is a little bit unsettled, we think because of the collar but hopefully that can come off tomorrow
Apart from that he seems fine. The vet thinks he is approx.: 8/9 months old and confirmed the gentle nature of him and that he would suit a home where there are other dogs because he is such a friendly boy.
Will keep you posted.

Re: Wished we had gone to Lemar- not Supreme!!!
Thank you Lor51 so much for taking the photo's and posting them, maybe one day our tired old brains will be able to take in how to do it.
Update on the boy, collar now off and the wound looks ok and in him self he is back to normal we think. A bundle of love, full of fun now we really must ask everyone's help to find him his own home. Joe Cocker still absolutely loves him, Ruby Tuesday has been his nurse, Billy Boswell is still a grumbleguts with him and little Bonny Tyler is still not quite sure.
He is really walking well on the lead now and has actually been for a paddle in the sea. He absolutely loves running free on the beach but he is still not sure what Joe is upto when he swims in the pool.
As you never know the history of these dogs, you try and pick up likes and dislikes, fears and introducing so many new things and as they gain confidence that is when there character and personality comes out.
Monty is such a funny, loving dog, will still need calming down on occasion but will make someone such a beautiful companion and friend.
Please!!!

Monty had a good day yesterday playing with our 4 dogs no problems at all we put him in the kitchen last night and again no mess when Wendy and İ went down at 6am.
Unfortunately no enquiries for him which is a shame as he will make someone a lovely pet and he is fairly intelligent so at his age he should be fairly easy to train so anyone looking for a dog please pick this Boy.BBB

Re: Wished we had gone to Lemar- not Supreme!!!
Just a quick update.
Bad news is still no interest in Monty. Good news is that he seems fully recovered now from the snip and is getting quite playful and a little bit mischievous. Even Grumpy Billy was having a 'Big Daddy/Mick McManus match with him this morning.
Wendy works Thursday/Friday mornings as well as I do so they all had to be left in yesterday and will be again this morning but we know now that he is fully trained. Night time they are all let through to sit with us, totally relaxed together and no nuisance at all.
He is thriving on being part of a family and having his friends, so loving and cuddly but now and again you sense he gets a little bit nervous of doing something wrong.
We have two options for the little man!
One - we ask KAR to tag him so he is under their protection but will be put back in the Supreme area, as that was where we rescued him from.
Two - we carry on for abit longer, hoping and praying with everything crossed, that someone will fall for him and give him his own home.
Unfortunately no option three- we cannot keep him !
If we had not got the four, no hesitation as he is such a ''cracking dog''. Lets hope for good news for him!

Re: Wished we had gone to Lemar- not Supreme!!!
Morning everyone.
Am afraid to say that it is now getting close to being 'Montys last stand' !!!
It is now 10days since we rescued him and obviously he has bonded to us and our other dogs, especially Big Joe Cocker.
For his sake, we hope that this next week will bring good news for him.
To find him a home of his own we would still willingly help him, i.e. looking after him during holidays, visits etc. We would cover the costs of injections, micro-chipping etc. and help out in any way we can,
We would bring him to anyone who would like to meet him, no problem.
He is such a loving boy and it would break our hearts to se him back on the streets and we honestly do not think he would now survive after living with us and being in a home.
Just look at his pictures and you can see what a trusting, gentle natured, laid back, cuddly boy he is.

Wendy taking pictures/posters of 'Monty' with her tomorrow to the Cancer Charity Coffee Morning at the Malpas. She will be working on one of their stalls so if anyone would like to have a chat about the little man, just go to her.
We have noticed that at night when we are all watching tv or reading, Monty lays on his blanket with completely crossed front legs and paws, Never seen a dog do that before!
Will keep on wishing and hoping that someone will come good for him!

Re: Wished we had gone to Lemar- not Supreme!!!
We have still got 'Monty' with us, bless him. The decision has been made that we will carry on looking after him until we can find him a family and home of his own, fingers crossed. Only this morning going down to the coast road, just through our village, there was a beautiful longhaired alsation cross lying dead on the pavement It did not look as if it was a road accident, could have been poisoning or shooting! We would not be able to forgive ourselves if we put 'Monty ' back out there and then something bad happened to him.
Joe Cocker and Billy Boswell both went for a swim in the pool this afternoon and the look on Monty';s face watching them both! Hilarious!
Monty does love the family life now, being inside a home with others and likes nothing better than just being with you and his 'mates'
He is such a friendly, gentle loving dog, mischievous at times but in a funny way and has no malice what so ever in him.
Thank you once again to Lor51 and Owl Lady for their 'help' and support with Monty, will keep you posted!!!

Re: Wished we had gone to Lemar- not Supreme!!!
Tonight we were taking Monty to meet a couple in Lapta who would have loved to have given him a home. Unfortunately, the lady has had to say No, as after taking advice from her family, due to medical circumstances which will not get better, it would have been too much for her to care for Monty as well. She was so upset as both herself and her husband would have loved him so much. So, the search continues - Could it be your family and home that is just waiting for a ''Monty''! Please look at the pictures again, he is a 'Cracker' !!!

Oh how I wish we could take him, but having 4 of our own and 300 more to choose from at KAR centre it just isn't possible, it's a pity that the lady and gentleman you refer to were not able to make their own decison and famly had to do it for them. Still, Onwards and Upwards I always say. There will be someone somewhere just looking for a dog like Monty. Trouble is - he's bigger than your average Cyprus poodle isn't he?

So sorry to hear that, the only good thing is they decided they couldn't look after him, before they took him and not after, when he may have been deserted again.

We are with you Owl Lady , better now than after and we quite understand her reasons for wanting Monty in the first place but also saying No, as well.
In answer to Sophie on Monty's size, he is longer legged than our other two Cyprus poodles but he is a lot slimmer in build and only weighs 10kilos. With his coat being so tight curled he actually looks like a lamb, he is a ''funny'' in a nice way, green eyed boy!!! Well! feeding time now for the five, dogs come first - ours later!

I know what you mean about feeding - dogs first and formost and humans a very secondary second!! Just done the feeding x 4 bit and I think a large G & T is needed now. (for me that is)
