Re: Band Launch - Snakebite Fri 16 May
If the evening is going to be filled with music along the lines of the sneak preview heard last night played by Barry Snakes at Tolga's, then this is going to be one GREAT night of music filled with new music that no one else does. What a relief, something new in North Cyprus!!!!!

Re: Band Launch - Snakebite Fri 16 May
Hello Mishmash thank you for your enthusiasm and I hope the event will be well supported although I do worry that the people here dont want new as it is out of the comfort zone ! For the people who do come I can promise they wont be disappointed. I have played in many bands in the UK and this equals some of the best for efforts and musicianship and enthusiasm. We have split the concert into 2 halves ! In the first half we play songs which are not known generally and task us all with what is needed to play them well ! the second half we play more up tempo songs to dance to but not the usual stuff you hear everywhere ! I am looking forward to it but apprehensive as to the audience response. Kind regards Barry

I believe they can frontalman, you can pay on the door but if a lot of tickets have been sold then seating might be a problem.
Bestsellers at Alsanjack are selling tickets as well, not sure if there are other outlets.

Lor51 thank you for your support and encouragement its very welcome ! I really hope for the other members of "Snakebite" who are young and enthusiastic that they are supported as i have been through the mill backwards so nothing particularly worries me now apart from their success. All I can say is that we are doing our best to inject new music to this otherwise boring, stayed, very predictable metropolis of music experts and "professionals" which is a massive leap forward in my humble opinion ! Look forward to seeing you there ! regards Barry

I'm sure the evening will be a great success and that there will be a great response for all the band members that night and future nights.
Pleased my dancing partner will be there!!! (Although one band member might not be too pleased about that!!! )

There shouldn't be any seating, headbangers like us should be glued to the dancefloor all night. Anyone sitting down is at the wrong meeting!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Band Launch - Snakebite Fri 16 May
I try to limit myself to 1 headbang, I actually debated the other night to get my hair cut short so that I wont want to do it, a friend has nicknamed me brain haemorrhage because she is concerned that what little brain I do have will be popping soon! I just cant help it though, once that guitar and them drums get going, its so hard to stay still, I have tried wearing high heels to curb it, sitting on my hands, going to the loo, walking outside, I honestly think I have an affliction. If my dancing partner head bangs with a plaster cast on her leg, what chance do I have to stay seated. Snake Bite, Deep Purple, Bon Giovani and the great support bands that are playing is going to be a banging couple of months. Hair cut after July 24 I think.

Blimey Barry, I didn't realise you had a fan club. Can I join please. You kept that very quiet.
imho silverfox is a wind up merchant, just look at his posts, all the for sales for eg, asking people how much, he has no intention of buying. Just a wind up.
I have seen quite a few acts in my short time here, and I can honestly say that YOU Barry Snakes are the only one that I have come across/read about that is doing anything to help the youngsters on this Island to make a musical career.
Silverfox what exactly are you doing to help anyone? I find your comments very offensive to Barry, it doesn't matter if you like his type of music or not, the very fact that this guy goes out of his way, gives his free time, gives his musical knowledge to the young ones, says a lot about him. So unless you have something to say that is constructive, best say nowt imho of course.

Re: Band Launch - Snakebite Fri 16 May
Silverfox you say 'Same hoo ha last year over new young band hyped by BS'
I'm assuming that by 'hoo ha' you must mean 'achievements' those four youngsters achieved and played last year at venues that many would like to have played at, having being given the opportunity to develop their talents by Barry Snakes. When someone is willing to pass on their knowledge to the youth around us, it should be commended!! I was one of four sets very proud parents last year and can remember no HOO HA only achievements and witnessing four youngsters develop and experience occasions that they will never forget.
If it's soooooo boring then don't read the thread.

All Stars Agency wishes to announce that the Snakebite Band Launch at the Almond Lounge will ALL be going ahead this evening, as planned. However, as a mark of respect to all involved in the Turkish Mining Disaster ALL All Stars Agency Performers will be holding one minute's silence during their events this evening. Additionally the event at The Almond Lounge will carry out a collection for donations to be forwarded to the families of those involved, we hope that you give generously to these families at this tragic time. Thank you.

What a brilliant night, what ever apprehensions you guys had, I hope they have gone. All of you were very good. It was a pleasure to listen to different songs being played, and then the 2nd half being some of the familiar ones.
Also thanks for the standing one minute silence and the collection for the miners families.
Thanks to the staff at the Almond for doing a superb job keeping our tables supplied with the drinks.
Good luck with your future, you deserve a good one.

WoW!!!! What a band and what a launch!!! Thank you Snakebite for putting some life into live music! So refreshing to be able to listen and not know what is coming next! Fantastic professional performance by all members in every aspect, great combination of tracks that didn't come across as a jammin session ( how wonderful, music has finally arrived in North Cyprus). You guys really showed them how it should be done. When are you on again and where???

Re: Band Launch - Snakebite Fri 16 May
Would someone explain why the launch if I have got it wrong, for as I understand it, the former great group of Renegades was disbanded because of educational and family reasons. Hence the new group Snakebites is launched with different personnel. I believ e only one of the originals is left - the talented James. But do correct me if I am wrong. This is not my kind of music, but both the Renegades and Snakebites are a talented bunch who have been rehearsing frantically.
It would seem they were well received. Good luck to them

Re: Band Launch - Snakebite Fri 16 May
Hello Marions, Just a slight confusion which I hope to explain a little easier ! Snakebite are nothing to do with the "Foreign Nationals" the band of young people I mentored last year which sadly came to an end due to educational commitments for 2 lads and the other moving back to the UK ! The Renegades (this years project ) also is a totally different band concentrating on "Indie" style rock music ! This band consists of James Gray (ex Foreign Nationals drummer) but this time on Guitar and vocals, Drums are played by Tolga Guryel the bass is played by a young lady Scarlet Goodwin and lead guitar by Logan Sanger-Sharps.
This band was primarily formed to expand James Gray's musical ability most knowing he is developing into a first class drummer I have been teaching him to play guitar (or should I say "attack" ha ha) for the last year and he is a big fan of this style of music ! Onto "Snakebite". This band is a mixture ! We have James Gray on drums, Adem Oznedim on Bass Guitar, Edis Sezener (a very popular local musician in his own right) on guitar and vocals, and myself on the other guitar and vocals. This is a project to try to provide a different outlook on modern music mixed with classic rock ! On forming this band I thought long and hard (difficult for me) who to invite to play in it as I required new ideas and not the same old stuff you can hear in nearly every venue that has music all be it very popular with the average age groups here. These 3 lads excel in their instruments and all have exciting views on modern music of which I certainly am no expert ! It was the first appearance of many this year for "Snakebite" and consisting of 2 Turkish Cypriots and 2 UK members. The evening was a huge success disappointing only one person who thought it would be a band playing my usual repertoire but everyone else commented on how refreshing the song choices were, and how expertly they were played. I am sorry this is so long winding but hope this clears any confusion. Kind regards Barry
