Loads of motor cyclists seen riding around the Girne area today with crash helmets tied to the rear seat.

Police as usual turning a blind eye!

More lives about to be lost and families destroyed.

Sorry but if they wish to kill themselves its their choice as long as they dont hurt any one while they are doing it. So many wear a crash helmet but dont do up the strap which make it useless or they wear one and have a child in front of them standing up with no helmet. I think they are insane.

I agree Deniz, Adults can make their own decisions....although I think it is unfair and unlawful to put a child’s life at risk either on a motor bike with no helmet or in a car with no seat belt.

Never have I witnessed such blatant disregard for the law as here AND the law is the worst offender unless you happen to be foreign! Anyone remember that poor English guy who was prosecuted for not wearing a crash helmet AND it wasn't even the law yet, it was still in draft! There is discrimination here so face facts. Some of the locals are fair whilst others certainly are not. There are Turkish prices and foreigner prices so don't buy from places where the price is not shown, then you will be paying the same as everyone else. Sorry for those of you permanently wearing rose tinted spectacles, all is not lovely all the time for all the people and there are a few down sides to living here in TRNC but we take the rough with the smooth unless the trip becomes unbalanced to such a degree that it's just too bumpy lol.

The T.R.N.C. police enforcing traffic laws that would reduce death and injury on this country's roads, now that's a radical suggestion.

We should have some sympathy for the "local" drivers.

If they were penalised for parking on double yellow lines and on zebra crossings then where would these "drivers" park?

Regarding crash helmets for bikers I was told that there law only requires them to carry a helmet but not to were one!

Don't know if that is true.

Picked an interesting - to some - little snippet out of last weeks news. In the year 2013 there were 23,500 recorded traffic accidents in the UK that ended in either death or serious injury. Do they still wear crash helmets there? Bet nobody takes their kids to school in front seats of cars, nobody talks on the mobile phones unless hands free and of course you will never see a truck driver eating his bowl of cornflakes whilst driving down the motorway!!!

Horses for courses. Drive defensive folks and stay safe yourself, you can not save the whole world unless they want to be saved.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.
