Tina Turner
Morning,
Did anyone go to the Tina Turner Tribute last night in the Court Yard, as I am interested what it was like.

Re: Tina Turner
Well you will all have a great night , 7 of us went last night , it was packed & a realy great nite . Tony Wand started the night off with his silky voice then "Tina" played the crowd , & the " local boys " backing her was realy good as well , keyboard was brill , the others just excellent !!!! Well done to them all.
Even Mo's boys got all the food out with no real trouble &! The drinks ordered at ya table & quick getting back to you & the food that we had was as normal very good .
I can only say well done to all concerned , it was a top night .
Tonight were doing Davro at the Savoy so I'm sure this weekend will take some beating , & I've had a few !!!!

Re: Tina Turner
I know you can't please all of the people all of the time but was underwhelmed - 'Tina' had a very good voice but spent too much time talking! I think she say around 7 songs?! Thought £25 was a tad too much to pay, for just a chicken curry. BUT the local backing band were brilliant - excellent keyboard player who I felt held the band together.
Maybe a bit critical having seen the real Tina several times - who certainly knows how to rock the crowd.

Totally agree with Have a Cuppa comments re Sat night performance. Also we found the first act Rachel dire will certainly avoid at all costs in the future. Backing group wonderful and Mo and the lads did a great job with service etc.

Maybe true Belle, but as they say you can't please all the people all the time. Just one out of the hundred or so that was there and I am sure you are right and there were a lot that did enjoy judging by how many were dancing.

I went on Friday. I thought £25 was the right price all things considered. Did not stay for even the whole first set of Tina Turner as was disappointed with her voice...off key a lot of the time and as others said, she talked too much.
That said, each to their own and I know that lots enjoyed the night.

Re: Tina Turner
went last night, disappointed with 'Tina' nothing like the real Tina, too much chat & definitely off key. However ...... Ivan, as usual was brilliant as were the rest of the backing group, drum solo excellent. Would love to see them get together again one day.

I have over the years seen many professional artists sing in concert, not always in key, and sometimes cannot sing at all, who have only got to the top with a catchy tune, good lyrics and personality.

Thanks to all that came.. Just like to clear a couple of points Kinisha was certainly not off key,, we as a band hit a couple of bum notes throughout the evening that would have made Kinisha sound of key and we apologise for that.. also she sang 16 and not 7.. as for talking too much this is what she does as to build a bit of an atmosphere some like some dont what do you do?
Barry Steele will be here in July doing his Roy Orbison tribute with full band and i recommend you check him out before you book he isnt hard to find,, also Jerry Carlson from Sweden in August doing his Jerry Lee Lewis thing who i have to say is a fantastic piano player and will be bringing his own drummer also from Sweden.. Jerry is also not hard to find so please check them out before you book as it may not be your cuppa tea..Both shows will take place in Courtyard..Thanks again to everyone that came nothing like this can happen without your support..

Re: Tina Turner
I disagree Kelvin, I was very near the front and she was off-key several times. The group, however, were brilliant.

Re: Tina Turner
I'm a bit gobsmacked at the negatives given on this gig .
It's a "Tribute Act" not a look a likey or a sound a likey but a Tribute , the clue to it all is in the heading , a Tribute to Tina Turner . I think it was a great nite & if we don't support the acts & the people who make this posable then they won't happen anymore & we will all start moaning there's not enough to do here !!!
It did say £25 that includes a curry , & that's what ya got , a Tribute act a curry & Tony Wand which I never knew about so really you got ever more than was advertised .
Great nite at the Bobby Davro nite as well.
Support the acts that come here & the organizers will keep bringing them & we can have some veriation of entertainment .
Again well done to all concerned .

Re: Tina Turner
Well done Ruggy. We have been here four years and seen many tribute acts. We have enjoyed the evenings, the music, food, good company and ambience and all at ridiculous cheap prices. We have many to look forward to this year.

Re: Tina Turner
I agree totally Ruggy, not a look a likey or sound a a likey but a Tribute; nonetheless, the Tribute has to, at least, be in tune most of the time. This is just one opinion and I believe the over-riding opinion was that everyone enjoyed themselves so objective achieved. It won't stop be supporting other tribute shows here.
