It's very James Bond.

There are several advantages, other than space saving:

1. Reduces evaporation and water loss when closed.
2. Blocks UV rays when pool not in use - extends chlorine half-life.
3. Children, wild birds and pets don't have access to pool when cover is closed.

It depends on a number of things, not least the pool itself.

Typically, for a new pool with a sliding cover, as shown in the video - £20,000 depending on items such as roman-ends, steps, lights, etc.
