Muppet-if you have accidentally deleted files, assuming you use 'Windows' they should go in the 'recycle bin' before they are deleted proper-so look in your recycle bin and if they are in there right click your mouse and choose 'restore'-that should put them back where they belong.
If you can't find them there, there is some free software that might help-see this article-

Hope this helps.

Thee other thing to try is to use 'system restore' to take your computer to a time before the files were deleted.

Sorry but just to be clear windows system restore does not restore ' personal files 'Philoz wrote:Thee other thing to try is to use 'system restore' to take your computer to a time before the files were deleted.

What files are changed during a system restore?
System Restore affects Windows system files, programs, and registry settings. It can also make changes to scripts, batch files, and other types of executable files created under any user account on your computer. System Restore does not affect personal files, such as e-mail, documents, or photos, so it cannot help you restore a deleted file. If you have backups of your files, you can restore the files from a backup.

In future if you have some vitally important files that you may need to access anywhere in the world - why not email them to yourself and save them off into a folder for safe-keeping... we do this with things like a scan of passports, driving licence etc... so that even if we'd lost them whilst away from home we could easily furnish the information to obtain replacements....

Another free 'recovery' programme is Recuvva.
