The BRS Poll - So Far!!

Looks like the BRS poll has ground to a halt after a couple of thousand views but only 150 votes, so now you can play with the statistics if you wish.
Votes for the BRS = 74. Votes against the BRS = 76. Hardly conclusive – BUT.
Keep this in mind:
44 of the YES votes were from BRS members - who “might” have an idea what proposals the BRS committee take before the TRNC Government.
33 of the YES votes were from NON BRS members - who would have “no” idea at all what the BRS committee would be representing them about!
So, as a total play with the statistics – just love statistics – it ends up like this:
Percentage of BRS members who actually voted = 18% (of a total of 350 members)
Percentage of expats (non-BRS) who actually voted = 0.58% (of a total of 15,000 expats)
Percentage for = 49.33%
Percentage against = 50.67%
Suggest now that the poll is closed due to lack of interest and of course the World Cup/Wimbledon events taking much higher priority than life itself.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

Probably more than that by now - the 15,000 was a number published by the Gov after the census before the last one! Got to remember that us expats live all over the North and not just at Lapta (to pick one place) and that the census was taken at a time when most of the "Swallows" (sorry if the word upsets people) were actually here soaking up the sun!

Now, for expats you also have to take into account all the non-UK folks but not of course our Pakistani and workers who are here under a different arrangement. So YES 15,000 is a conservative estimate and probably much closer to the truth than the 64,000 or 40,000 or 35,000 Turkish Army guess - lol.

I know that when we lived there the figure was about 8.000.That would have been about 2004.

Ok, how about 7,998 (cos you left) then - lol? Sorrym back to 8,000 because we came after you had gone - lol. Then the Russians came and some moved up from the South as well, don't suppose we would ever get a true figure from the census anyway as lots hop South for the day or wander into the mountains - difficult to find a spot to park up there on census day somtimes - lol.

In fact if you listened to the "bar truths" last year there were 1,000 containers a month going back to UK - that's 12,000 a year so I guess I must be the only one left here?????

Lies, damn lies and statistics - great!
