Under the headlines "Wonderful Holiday in Girne" and "In the Occupied Areas ... so they say" the kktchaber web-site reports that the 2500-strong Austrian high school graduates are currently enjoying a wonderful 2-week holiday at the Acapulco Beach Resort.
The web-site says that the Austrian holiday and entertainment organisation, X-Jam, went ahead with the 2-week event, despite what the web-site describes as propaganda from the south along the lines of "You are going to an occupied region, a place controlled by the military, where you will be attacked and raped by soldiers". Whether or not such warnings were indeed given to the youngsters, the event went ahead and it is estimated they will have left 5 million Euros in KKTC coffers by the time the last one leaves.

Nice to read that some people dont always believe all the propaganda that is thrown at them from the Dark side. well done the organisers and I hope the youngsters have a wonderful holiday The elders among them can go back to Austria and refute some of the stupidities that are spread by the south side. - they werent raped, they werent escorted or threatened by Turkish soldiers, and hopefully all the locals they did meet showed what lovely people they are.

Given the nonsense the Dark Side spout, the EU will live to regret allowing them the forthcoming Presidency ( Te He).

We will hopefully end up with a lot more support than has previously been offered when they have truely cocked things up.

Why do the GC,s continue to make themselves look stupid by spouting all this garbage, to my knowledge in all of the 19 years I have been visiting then living here I don't know of one case of a Turkish soldier attacking or raping anyone.
If they have any facts on their claims perhaps they'd like to share them with us all.

I hope the young people have a fantastic holiday and go on to tell others about it when they return home .

I haven't heard of Turkish soldiers raping anyone, but a few years ago there was news of British soldiers in the south raping a girl (danish, ithink she was). so..............why still the propaganda against us here. evil happens in many places, and we have our own 'evils'# here in the north, but certainly not of tghe kind that is made ut by the south. When I lived there I was warned not to come and visit here, because I would nev er come back alive. and I was told that by reallynice, ordinary GC friends who have been told that, an d believed it.

Seems not a lot changes - so hurray for the intelligence of the austrians.

You might be interested to hear that the first 2500-strong cohort of Austrians left on Friday, causing Ercan to have the busiest 3 hours ever ( http://www.haberkktc.com/haber/ercan-cu ... 40088.html ) and a similar number arrived the following day to start their 2-week graduation holiday at the Acapulco Holiday Resort. However, the PR manager there, a very close friend of my wife, told us that the GC propaganda machine was successful in disuading quite a few Austrian families from sending their children here, because originally they were expecting closer to 10 000 youngsters.

The mind boggles, only wish it had happened.

For the GCs I hope " What goes round, comes round " sooner rather than later.

Well done to Acapolco for getting that business. According to the 60 odd photo's taken, seems like the youngsters had a great time, would be nice if we had some of them commenting on here.
Iancrumpy, anyway of getting word of "Kibkom forum" out to any of the student?
Great story!

Soner asked "Any way of getting word of "Kibkom forum" out to any of the students?"

Soner, I'll think about it - we are little reluctant because X-Jam won't want to upset the GCs any more than is necessary, and involvement from the resort's PR woman might not go down too well.

However, maybe we'll visit Vacide at the resort next weekend ... while the second cohort is still here We'll see ... no promises though ...

With the headline on the photo reading "EU, this is Northern Cyprus" the haberkktc web-site shows more photos from Acapulco, this time of the second contingent :
