Alevkayası Forest Cafe centred in the Alevkayası mountain-forest picnic area is the only one of its kind in North Cyprus. Located in the five finger mountains, locals and tourists visit this area to exhibit the serenity, relaxing atmosphere and irresistable beauty of the forest. With the constant cool breeze, it is a great escape from the scorching heat the island is accustomed to over the long summer months. The area is also famous for its Herbarium, the Armenian Monastery and for its rare wildflowers that are a main attraction for many nature lovers.

Come and visit us at Alevkayasi Forest Cafe to enjoy a much needed break from the scorching heat and experience the joy of your food being cooked right in front of you and a taste of some delicious home-made lemonade
.

How to find us - You can get to us via Esentepe or by taking the mountain road from Çatalköy to Lefkoşa.

Please feel free to contact us on 0558770652 or alevkayasicafe@gmail.com

thanks for the info. I haven't been there for ages and it looks as if it has been brought up to date. The swings look new etc, etc. ~Will definitely take a trip up when we have time. Hope youhave a tavla set all ready for us to use. Can't beat sitting under the pine trees, breathing the cool mountain air and beating my husband at backgammon.

thanks again for the posting. I can't see the opening times. Could you please confirm. Thanks.

Hi, I've tried to locate it on a map but its unclear as to where you are.

Could you post a location map? And maybe what sort of signs for your cafe to look out for (i.e. big/small etc).

Thanks. Chris

If you can find the Herbarium on a map, the cafe is almost opposite. There are a couple of other huts' but nothing else. If yu can get up to the top and as I say the herbarium - there you are. But I am sure the proprietor can give you better instrucitons.

DİRECTIONS

You can get to us via the Çatalköy-Değirmenlik (lefkoşa) mountain road. If you are coming from çatal köy end you will pass the Kyrenia Animal Rescue centre on the left, then the Buffavento restaurant .There is a sign just after on the left directing to Alevkayası but I do not recommend this route as the road is very narrow ( however it has amazing views!) Once you've past the first sign for ALEVKAYASI and ESENTEPE another few minutes down the road just before the construction sites there will be another turn off on the left with the same sign. This road will take you to us. We are based in the forest picnic area and opposite the herbarium.

Marion you should have come and visit anyway, we always make room for our customers, we have unlimited space!

Sunday was a very scary day for everyone. We were all on edge especially once we heard the fire was spreading our way. It would have been disastorous if the fire had hit Alevkayasi Forest, the forest has been here for so long and in a matter of hours could have been destroyed. I thank god that it was put out and did not cause any more damage to our environment. I pray that it will not happen again, but if so that we will have the sufficient resources ready to fight such an event and not always expect help from outside sources.

There has been no damage to the forest area We are still open and currently serving our customers.
Ever in doubt please feel free to give us a call 05338770652.
