Bon Giovi results to date

Post by tulips »

We are aware that some of you do not read the local papers and as such we wanted to say 'thank you' to you for your support for this event, we are also being asked about the results of this event so here goes ..........

We would firstly like to thank the organisers of the event, Ahmet Asik of the All Stars Agency Promotions - who brought over Bon Giovi and organised the event with the help of Michelle Gray. Also thanks to Barbara Willbye and Linda Stirling who helped us with our collection boxes on the night.

Our thanks also go to the sponsors:

Almond Holiday Village
Martina Cole Best Seller Bookshops
Cafe George
North Cove
Quickline
Hetim Travel

Most importantly, we would like to thank everyone who bought tickets because without your support these events would not generate the income that we need, in this case in excess of 800 tickets were sold!

The results of the evening are almost complete, we can tell you that 14,206.50TL profit is to be shared between Tulips (20%) and The Blind Association (80%).

The only "expense" yet to be deducted before the profits can be finalised and distributed to the 2 charities is the KDV, which will hopefully be completed this coming week. We will then have an exact figure of how much each charity will receive and will let you know the results.

In addition to Tulips receiving 20% of the profits we also have a further 2,572.70TL plus 2 Euros which we collected on the night – so another big thank you to all of you who so generously donated on the night!

We hope that you had a good evening and many thanks for all your help and support.

Carole and Sue

Well done, but for the Government to take KDV is disgraceful.

They are taking cash directly from cancer patients and the blind.

Perhaps it is because there was a profit, as opposed to funds available after expenses?

After the other funds received by the Government, I.e. KDV on food and drink, etc, they did pretty well.

Wot! Only 14,000???Or, were there not many people there. I think my maths have gone wrong somewhere. I thought there were about 800 people there, which makes 40,000tl. Please explain to simple little me!

I expect out of the 800 some were students who paid less.

Also, I doubt if Bon Giovi appeared for free! Or even paid for their own flights!

Maybe one or two bits of equipment may have been hired or even purchased, however, I am sure there are others much better informed than me.

I think 14,000 is pretty good, plus the donations. That Barbara must have sold double glazing before she came here. You cannot refuse her.

Marions, Bon Giovi received their usual concert fee plus flights and accommodation ! and the sound and lighting system was hired from Yamaha and Cyproduction costing just in excess of 5000 Euros. Whilst with best intentions the whole concert was in aid of charities these huge costs were unavoidable and essential in producing what many people are claiming to be one of the best shows they have seen in North Cyprus (of its kind) ! Baring in mind many other residual costs I think this was a great result for each charity ! Kind regards Barry

If k.d.v. is paid on a charitable event then this is a disgrace.
Thef t.r.n.c. government should show some compassion and change the law!

Will the results be made public of how the proceeds were broken down.
Exactly who got what & a breakdown of the expenses, or is this a secret.
Estimated proceeds 40000TL. 14000TL profit, 2800TL to Tulips, 11200TL to The Blind Association.
Please a breakdown of the remaining 26000TL. The only figure quoted by Snakes was an "in excess" of €5000 for lighting system.
A very good show all round & at least there was a profit.

Why on earth do people keep putting their heads on the block trying to do charitable work, someone will always try and make out that monies taken is not the amount it should be,having got their calculaters out. What is wrong with TRUST.

Not a question of trust. Trust implicitly.
Just a question of how the money before profit was split.
Is this too much to ask.

Cant understand what it has to do with you or anyone else. Do you ask on the forums how the Children in need concerts break down their figures or the 112 events. If you trust then you shouldn't have to ask.

Lor51. It has everything to do with me.
Marions asked the same question in message 3. Which wasn't answered
I know expenses are incurred. Just asking how much & to who?
How much was the kdv?
Nothing wrong in asking for the figures to be made public or is there?

KDV is paid on all registered charity events unfortunately, although at a reduced rate.
Any ticket you purchase for a charity event or non charity event when official has the KKTC stamp on it showing that the event is official and registered with the tax office and KDV is payable.
The exact amount of KDV paid will be advised very shortly.
With regards to the other expenses as identified by Barry Snakes these were incurred via band fee, flights, excess baggage costs (for equipment), equipment hire, printing costs and have been shared (and checked) complete with all receipts to the charities and the tax office within days of the concert.
A full break down of expenses will be published within the next couple of days for you all.

That maybe so Owl Lady, however as Lor has highlighted no one seems to ask any other event on their breakdowns, breakdown should apply to all is that not so?

DR - you are echoing the thoughts of many. I have heard rumblings and mumblings of discontent that accoutns are not published for events, or more importantly for end of year either. Most of the major societies here do, but there are some thatdonot. It would be good if all did, so people knew exactly what happens to the money they donate, whether directly or indirectly. But I do not think there is a law that says that people have to.

But Owl Lady is correct in that the ripples of the events of a while back with Cheshire home are still on the pond of charity life here.

Unbelievable. I hope that when the breakdown of costs are published you also publish the costs that would have been incurred for all of the ones that used their free time rehearsing, the petrol costs of each day to deliver leaflets, call in to the ticket selling shops each week for to collect monies, Mrs Snakes, what could she have charged for renting out her music studio, giving up her quiet nights for the bands to rehearse, what fees could the bands have charged, I notice nothing discriminating has been said about Bon Giovi taking payments, they knew it was for charity, could they not have paid for their own accommodation, If you publish one side then publish what the people who raised this for charities gave up as well.
And as for the comment from ipman regarding I do trust, then I am with Lor 51 on this, if you trust there is no need to ask, do I trust my wife with my wallet, if I had to ask then the answer is no. I wouldn't blame anyone if they never did a charity event again after some of the comments that have been made over not just this, but the whole concert.
That's my 2 pennys worth.

There may still be ripples from Cheshire Homes, although I do believe that was a few years back, since then there have been countless charitable events many of which not actually for registered charities and the "non registered charity events" not one comment!!! But yet to see any of those questioned!!! Just appears to be one rule for one here, how many have done their bit organising anything or given up free time for an event, do believe it was a struggle getting volunteer stewards and help on the night despite advertising only a few came forward!! (Obviously too busy typing on the forums to volunteer)

Thread is about Bon Giovi results to date so please do not bring up past history/questions regarding other supposed charitable/non charitable events.

Tulips have posted and early indication of income v expenditure. There have been a couple of queries and others have provided a little additional information.

Full breakdown of all costs to follow.

Wether KDV should be levied, wether the band should have charged less, paid their own way, wether other firms could have donated more is really not relevant. What is relevant is did the event make some money for charity - it appears that it did. Really do not think there is any need to ask any further questions now, just await the full costings.

Overall feedback shows this was a great event for which all those who gave of their time and effort should be happy about, plus money was made for charity.

Posh, what you have said in part is what I don't understand, Tulips posted profits to date. Why should they or anyone else have to show the costing's. Surely a charity event no matter for who or what it is for should be based on trust. Otherwise why donate in the first place. I know nothing about past histories of others that went wrong, but just cos there is one bad apple doesn't mean etc.
All that does matter is a profit was made and a good profit, why should the costing's have anything to do with joe public, maybe I am being naïve here.

It is of course good news that a profit was made, that is the most important thing.

However; in order to be open and transparent, once all the income has been received and bills paid it is normal to show a full breakdown of income v expenditure so as to confirm how the final profit figure was realised.

This helps both the organisers to understand wether their time and effort was worth it, could anything have been done better and for those that attended or gave money, how their money was spent.

Posh, I agree, its between the organisers and the charities and that is my view, again, I don't understand why Joe Public should know, and its not normal for a charity to show joe public its expenses whenever it holds an event. I wont say any more on the matter as no one will ever convince me that its in my best interest to know how much was spent on what ever expense was incurred.

Perhaps if ASAP publish detailed accounts (up to them of course) they could be available to collect from ASAP on production of a passport ! This would determine the difference between people who are genuinely concerned from those who just want to cause trouble on a forum !! regards Barry
