When I last started a thread about missing dogs and Dikmen, I came clean because despite being assured it had happened, KAR could find no absolute proof and for that I personally received a lot of abuse. Well, here I go again and I make no apologies. On Tuesday last a dark blue 4 x 4 pick up was seen loading up stray dogs (or were they just dogs wandering about and owned or tagged?) This was in Ozankoy on Tuesday and we think very early in the morning. Photographs of the vehicle were taken and for which we have a registration number which has been passed on to Girne Belediye.

For those people who are sceptical that "someone" is doing this, I really am not interested in your views, so don't bother to be abusive. However, anyone living in or around the center of Ozankoy and your dog has gone missing, then it will give you food for thought.

We pass on this information with the best will in the world and don't deserve to be castigated for having done so.

We know this is going on, how to prove it is another matter. The absence of the dogs in town and surrounding area's jumps out at you if you have got your eyes open !!!
The shooting at Arapkoy yesterday!! why are people still in denial, make feeble excuses and try to put blame on the 'likes of us' for caring and wanting to make a difference.

I know at least one of the Girne high street dogs is down at the harbour He is a KAR tagged dog number 181.He is now camped out at Highline Paragliding office. If you remember a posting and photo sometime ago, by the wine shop in Catalkoy.(bargainbooze and wines) He slept there for ages and disappeared after a stormy night. Moved to the high street and now the harbour. He was christened "little Boy"
I posted recently that I had not seen 5 regular dogs by the harbour. they have apparently moved round the corner to below the castle on the quay side. A friend of mine feeds them in the mornings. This morning 2 young puppies have appeared with them!!

I was told today that several of the harbour dogs had been removed, whether tagged or not.
Quite a few dogs have gone from the centre of girne as well.
Dikmen site was mentioned.
I see a dog and wonder will you be here tomorrow its so sad ,a lot of these dogs are doing no harm.

Thanks for posting that Sophie. It is good to have the news shared, even though it is not what many of us would want to hear. But szadly, we can't take these dog sin, and so the council do what THEY feel is right. Plus of course, some of the dogs do take up different 'lodgings' around theplace, so maybe not as many have disappeared as feared. But it does seem that it is a blitz, with shootings vans loading them up and dogs disappearing.

It is very sad, but what is to be done. I know that KAR is constantly engaged in talks, but it is slow going I am sure.

As I have pointed out some of the Girne centre dogs have moved down to the harbour, below the castle quay side.

Just had a thought! Hope KAR will follow through on this one as if they have a photo and registration number the police will be able to say who the owners are and even their telephone number. How do we know? This happened to us after we had rescued a young puppy from a busy road in the village. We were actually knocking on doors with the puppy when the owners rang us. Someone had taken our registration number, they rang the police with it - we were traced.
