problem with air con

Sounds like the unit is short of gas and the coil is icing-up. When the unit is running look at the pipes on the outdoor unit - they should be covered in condensation. If they are iced up you need gas.
What temp do you run the unit at? We can help you but it wont be for a day or 2.

Thanks for prompt reply Vaughn, unit runs at 22degrees, low fan.There is no icing of pipes when running, only usual condensation.Will we be doing further damage if we continue to run until problem is sorted?

Have you blown thru the condensate drain? Find the end of the drain, take a deep breath and blow as hard as poss.
You will not do any damage running the unit.

I would like to 'second' that recommendation for Vaughan - I've just had a couple of Aircon problems, and he sorted them out very promptly, neatly, and best of all, cheaply!

By the way, I do bump into Vaughan socially on odd occasions, but I certainly wouldn't use him or recommend him if his knowledge and service was not first class.

I just thought that he deserved a bit of a boost for doing a good job

Vaughan.We have an air con unit that blows air out but us no longer cold.We rent the house we are in but aside the last year it was empty for three years so I expect the gas needs re filling.How much do you charge for re gassing.Its the larger unit.

Sounds like loss of gas.
Regassing of a large unit will cost 100tl, subject to location.

Great.My number is 0533 8389560.Coming from Girne turn left just after Flippers then take next right after Yapi Market.Then next right at junction towards cemetery. 2 of our air con units have suddenly gone crazy! Beeping, flapping and switching off - tried switching off at wall, leaving for a few hours and switching on again but doesn't seem to make any difference. Think it happened just after early morning power cuts we had at beginning of this week. Any ideas? Hopefully they can be repaired - they are 8 years old but haven't been used much.
