Hi, we have been looking into having solar panels fitted and becoming as energy self sufficient as possible. We have spoken to a number of companies and it all seems very positive, although quotes have differed considerably. However, although all companies have said that credit for excess energy generated will be recorded for our use at a later time, we have also been told that Kib Tek do not yet have the meters and have no intention of crediting anyone. It is really frustrating being told something by companies wanting to do buisness with you and not being able to check out whether their information is correct. Doese anyone on this forum actually have one of the new meters and an electricity bill that they wouldn't mind letting us see?
Thanks KibKomers.

Get everything down in writing including statements such as excess energy. Mind you, if you were to take a company to court over mis-selling do you have a leg to stand on in the TRNC?
Good luck. You are doing the right thing by asking questions before parting with any cash.

Re: meters for solar energy?
Apparently new digital meters will be installed and Kibtech will monitor production over a year, the exta electricity over and above that used will be credited. my neighbour is waiting to have the new meter fitted. His 500 tl bill is now around 50 tl / month for the standing charge and idenlama (street lighting)

Re: meters for solar energy?
Kibtek had a tender few weeks ago so the meters should be on their way and installed in coming months. How they decide on priority I dont know but I am guessing customers installing/installed solar PV systems should be the first in line having them installed. (Unless you have uncle in kibtek)
I currently work for a company that installs these systems and the owner always quotes the max to the custumer which is 5kwh for a household with a single phase supply. Which is not always the most economical option. 3kwh and even less could suit for an average home. Plus not to forget smaller systems can easily be extended in future with relatively small cost if needed. For example to extend 3kwh system to 5kwh you should be looking at maximum 3000 Euros or less for the extra 2kwh panels.
You also need to be carefull if you over produce you will not get paid for it. You can use back what you produced earlier. HOWEVER if you have accumulated energy you will loose all on the 31st December. They will reset your generation at the end of the year. I.e. on January you will always start with 0kwh credit in your account, even if you had 500 kwh accumulated in long summer days!
I am hoping to start my own as I am not happy with neither the quality of the work nor the information (incomplete if not wrong) they give to customers. Although my business probably wont be ready before September for installations I would be more then happy to try and answer any questions you may have in this forum or via private message.
