Best place to buy TV
I'm looking for a large TV, 50" ideally.
Can anybody advise a good place to buy. Prefer Samsung if there are any good shops north or South.
Thanks

Try the new electrical ware house, just down from Ship hotel, same parade of shops as Star newspaper.

Personally, wouldn't touch a Samsung .. Having bought one, after 5 years it packed up ..
Couldn't get a spare part .. TV was obsolete ..
Take a look at Arcelik .. 3 year guarantee & made in Turkey ..

Harita, does that mean the Arcelik TV won't be obsolete after 5 years?
If you can get a spare part for a TV after five years that is affordable you will be doing well.
Modern Televisions are more like computers they are out of date the moment you take them out of the shop.

Re: Best place to buy TV
Our Nabour bought a Samsung TV about 9 months ago, the Samsung van has been at his place every 2 months, so would not recommend.
Have you tried the Spot shop over the new harbour in the caller, Asil sell large tv's and they have a good warranty, I bought a flat screen 4 years ago and it has been perfect, I think it is a LCD still working fine.
He has a new TV as you enter I don't know what it is but it is very thin and very large with a wonderful picture with a 2014 sticker on the screen, this we saw when we bought the water cooler icemaker 2 days ago.

Our Samsung also gave up the ghost after about 5 years (strange shadow on the screen). We now have Vestel 42" LCD full HD, 400 mhz so great picture. 3 year guarantee with a parts and repairs department on the island. All good so far but only been 8 months. We also found Vestel to be the most helpful when we were doing the rounds.

We purchased washing machine and fridge freezer from Vestel, both with 3 year guarantees, found the sales staff helpful and informative, appliances were delivered as agreed, swiftly followed by engineers to install and ensure everything worked correctly, again helpful and informative guys, left us with numbers for service engineers should we need, we haven't so far. Two weeks later a call from Vestel to make sure we were happy with all aspects of their sales and service , we certainly are, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone, top firm

We bought a Video/Dvd combined machine a few years ago, Still under warranty and problems, They refused to deal and we ended up going to the Consumer Advice in Lefkosa. They eventually got us a new machine, cost us 50tl to register.Never bought anything from the since then.

Vestel main branch, from Lapta end, through Girne, over the Lefkosia roundabout passing the big Eletrokur shop on left, about 600 yards along this road on left hand side. There is parking at side of the shop.

Re: Best place to buy TV
I bought a large TV for our apartment at a small shop called Techmar its opposite the plaza with Lemar in it as you drive out of Kyrenia towards Catalkoy. They also have another shop in Nicosia.
Great 42 inch Lecla TV, great picture, good value and in some parts of the island you can get an economical package with lots of English channels for a small extra cost.
You can find them on the internet here: http://www.techmar-online.com/

Re: Best place to buy TV
Karmels, not surprised shop is closed. After care was non existent and I had such a bad time with Techmar, never again would I buy anything from them. My vaccuum cleaner hose disintegrated after only 5 months and they told me it was through my abuse and total negligence! I had to pay for new hose and fit myself as could not order from UK nor complain to Hitachi dealer as not recognised here. Vaccuum was an obsolete model and could not find it on line anyway. Companies here buy old stock for peanuts then sell to us at inflated prices. Please only buy from reputable stores, ie; Arcelik, Vestel, Beko. Good services and after care with them all.

Thanks for the information. I'll have a shop around. Might go to Lefkosa a day see what's available there
