Snake bite

This week I received a venomous snake bite on my foot. I managed to catch the snake (alive) for identification. Within 15-20mins my foot and leg where very swollen and extremely painful and getting worse, I went to Girne Hospital Emergency Department (with the snake) where I was seen immediately. The treatment I received was second to none. I was given multiple injections of anti-venom around the bite area and various other injections to counteract any symptoms. Within half an hour I was on a ward on an intravenous anti-venom drip. During my stay I had many and various injections and tablets, I’m out now but still have to take tablets for about two weeks, antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, and creams for the bite area. The snake was identified as very dangerous and poisonous viper.

Be alert to the danger of snakes. Get to a hospital a.s.a.p. if you get bitten. Your life could depend on it.

A big thank you to Girne Hospital and the staff that treated me.

Thank goodness you are ok and very reassuring to know how efficient they were at the hospital.

By the way, what happened to the snake?
Remember, no matter where you go, there you are.

A Friend of ours was also recently bitten by a baby snake , Only one fang managed to penetrate the skin of his finger but it still swelled up and he also ended up in hospital where he was treated succesfully.
He took a picture of the snake on his phone so the hospital staff knew what they were dealing with.

Flower fairy - I managed to catch the snake with a long crook stick and a lidded pot I was at home so had the stuff close to hand. It is not recommended you run around the fields chasing down a snake to catch it if your bitten you should remain calm and go to the nearest A&E a.s.a.p.

BLUE BUTTERFLY - not sure what happened to the snake it was given to the A&E staff at hospital it could still be roaming around somewhere ?

The blunt nose viper is the most dangerous.

My god how awful, wish you a speedy recovery , our friend as almost lost 2 big dogs in a matter of weeks due to Blunt nose Vipers in her garden, and the mess left by the bites is unreal.

I have also been told if you are not near an hospital try to get near to a army base.
