Dog in Lapta

Does anyone know the procedure for stray animals in Lapta now.I came across a dog in terrible condition tonight. It was either covered in Leish or Mange, most of its ears have gone and it was terribly thin and covered in sores.I fed it and it was really friendly.I don't know if KAR are still collecting animals in this area but this dog is clearly suffering .It was by the metal works a couple of roads up from the back of Flippers towards Lapta cemetery.

Any info would be appreciated.

If you have facebook go to Hope for pets North Cyprus page and post on there. Kar no longer help dogs in Lapta, though even if they did, doubt they would be able to help until the morning. First port of call now is supposed Belyedisi who now apparently collect all strays and take them to ...................
This poor mite sounds like it needs a vet asap, please keep us informed

Can you get it to a vet. It sounds as if it might not be able to be saved, and better in the hands of a vet than Lapta Belediye, which at the moment doe snot appear to have the facilities it requires for delaing with these poor animals.

It would appear that unwanted strays are being 'killed', for there is no compound in which to place them.

But this is only rumour. However, kindness (and you have been kind already) says, please take the dog to a VET a.s.a.p.

Unfortunatley, even if KAR wanted to help, it cannot. Its hands are now tied under the new 'law' in Lapta.

I havnt seen the dog before but I will try to catch it if I see it again. It makes me feel sad for the animal especially when I get home and see the life my four have.I used to work for KAR and I've seen many dogs in this condition and I suspect the dog would be beyond treating.

At least he has a full belly tonight so that's something I guess.I feed the dog on the Lapta strip near the Hut and yesterday he came bounding up to me and was so friendly.Hes been very suspicious up until now so I hope the Beliydeshi leave him there as I know several people feed him.

I will keep you updated.

Please try and get this dog to the Vet first thing in the morning, Try Garfield Vets I was talking with him and the Vet from the Belediye just last week and will be having further talks on Wednesday,

Also as what has been posted here please join and try to share a photo of this pub on the Hope for pets page,

There has been one posted today a little black one, maybe this is the same one, ? We will do all we can to help but first thing tomorrow please go to the Vet I said, and even call me when you have done this and I will go make a visit down, 0533 839 5561

I am so please that it's you who looks after the one on the Lapta Strip, I will mention this to the Belediye too and say he is doing no harm, he is happy and people are happy to lave him there, Please contact me as you also might like to speak with them and I am happy for you to come with me,

My vet Tunc told me that at the government veterinary dept in Girne when they put an animal to sleep they don't sedate it first. Can you imagine what this is like for the animals. Please if you are thinking of going down this route, take the dog to a vet first and have it sedated. Well done for feeding the poor thing. Very kind of you.

Ailletoo: When I had one of my dogs "put to sleep" (rapidly spreading and inoperable cancer) she wasnt sedated either. The injection took effect so quickly (actually so quick t startled me) it was not necessarily. Admittedly that was in her own (the dog's) home, but surely it depends on the drugs they use. If they are so quick acting a prior sedation is surely just adding another injection and journey and adding stress.
