Turkish water project

Am I correct in thinking this Turkish water supply means the end of the need for individually water ttanks ?
If this correct how long would completion of all this take before all residing in TRNC are on tap ?
Would it be years or months ?

I doubt that very much. We already get a mains water supply to our site from the Belediye but we still have individual water tanks as the main supply comes into a header tank at the top of our site which then branches off and distributes water to the individual water tanks, which is still then 'pumped' into the property.

In theory, if the new water supply is going to be constantly available and at pressure, then it is possible, but I would imagine the infrastructure for the new water supply will only take it to certain points around the island to then link in with the existing pipe infrastructure. Any direct link which doesn't already exist between mains supply and individual property would have to be paid for by the individual owner for new pipework to be installed.

In short, I would be very surprised if they are linking up every individual property in the north to direct mains water because A) it would cost millions and B) it would take years.

I've been reading in the English Speaking Turkish newspapers how short Turkey is of water this year i.e. 9 out of 17 reservoirs totally devoid of water, I would have thought the Turkish people will be miffed if some is sent over here. Re water pressure. For the second time in 4 years engineers have been up our road, measuring and marking the road with numbers, round rings and red dots. The first time was making a mark at every corner when the road branched off. This time the figures go right up towards Ilgaz so its probably to do with pressure needed for water go run uphill. (just a thought) The are marked at specific distances by pins with flags attached, red paint on rocks, gravel, tree trunks (anything)

I imagine, that in the short term, the Turkish water will simply be pumped to reservoirs that tend to run dry, and that there will be no change to the way individuals receive their water.
