Conecting Flight's,
Has anyone flown from Birmingham airport recently. If so do you have to still run through the airport from one gate to the other at Istanbul to catch the Ercan flight
Or is it the same as last time we came you go in one door and just walk to the other side of the room.
Thanks

Re: Conecting Flight's,
Did this about two weeks ago. As we came off the plane there were two doors with an official guarding the one which led up to the departure gate. Showed our boarding cards and were let through past past the passengers waiting to board and out to departure area. No rush and congrats to Turkish Airlines for a sensible solution, let's hope they continue. Make sure you have boarding cards for Istanbul / Ercan. Issued in B'ham.

Re: Conecting Flight's,
Thats what happened to us in March and May just waved through the door into airside for the Ercan flight as both times we pulled onto the terminal building
Returning from Ercan bussed into the terminal up the escalator sticky on the passport through security and up the stairs to airside
On the June return car park no sticky on the passport security as before
I believe the security bit is because you are uk bound its uk requirements
So anyone flown into the uk recently from Ercan whats happening?

Re: Conecting Flight's,
Well all I can say is, I hope that it has been made easier....and please dont say 'don't rush'. We had friends coming last year, plane late taking off from Birmingham, so the connection was missed. They were told to go to a desk where accommodation would be sorted. This was outside of passport control, so they had to pay for a visa. When they got to the desk, finally, after waiting in a very long queue, they were told that they would be taken to a hotel an hour away, and had to be back next morning for the flight which was around 7.00. They realised that by the time they got to the hotel they would pratically have to start back again to the airport.....might have a couple of hours sleep, which they probably wouldn't as everything was disrupted. Decided to stay at the airport overnight and wait for the morning flight to Ercan (wasted £20 on the Visas).......shops were shut overnight. I really do think that TA have to sort out the transfers. Friends are coming again this weekend and have an hour and 5 minutes to change, so I hope that the messages about it being easier apply.
