I can see clearly now the rain/smut has gone

Throughout this afternoon, from above Alsancak, I saw a seam of black, smog like, cloud drifting above the sea towards Girne. It appeared to be coming from the Camelot area, smelt of burning, toxic, plastics which deposited into swimming pools, and was accompanied by the sounds of emergency vehicles travelling at speed. My neighbours, who view our home as a birdsnest, have been asking me what happened but I have no answer for them. It seemed to be a fire but someone mentioned an explosion. Now I am hoping that what I heard was not ambulances amongst the fire engines and there are no casualties. Can anyone verify please what the incident was as I am still being asked to comment.

Thanks for the quick response Andrew. Blind Pugh that I am I missed the earlier post but I am sure you are right. In the 1980s I attended a Fire Officers course with Reigate Fire Brigade so I had an inkling that what was in the sky was unlikely to be very healthy. Thank goodness our neighbours shuttered up houses for a time. I do hope there were no casualties.
