It would appear that this document is for anyone who wants Citizenship, which if male is not recommend in my opinion as the person will be eligible for national service.
Also to gain citizenship you will have to have had Permanent Residency for five years and I wouldn't think there are many expats with Permanent Residency.
That's how I read it anyway, unless I am missing something.

Is this the bit that applies to most of us?

(3) Temporary Resident Permit Holders

(A) The amount of time spent in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus before and after having a temporary resident permit visa should be a minimum length of 10 (ten) years

(B) Not having lived abroad for more than 450 (four hundred and fifty) days in the last 5 years,

(C) Being of good moral character

(D) Having no offense constituting an obstacle in respect to national security and public order,

(E) Having no disease constituting an obstacle in respect to public health,

(F) Having a health insurance from a private company

That was the only bit, I thought might apply to ex pats. Only another 7 months to 10 years. NO private health insurance and no chance of getting any.

We will have been here for 10 years next year, we don't have private health insurance either but it could be arranged if necessary. Think we meet all the other clauses though (C) is a bit subjective...

Although I qualify I would not want Citizenship for the reason I have previously mentioned.
What I was hoping for was that I would be able to pay for so many years residency i.e. Five or ten years to save the annual inconvenience that I endure now.
Even Permanent residency would be a bonus, maybe they might open that up again who knows.

I think that is what most of the long time ex-pats were hoping for. Doesn't look as very much has been achieved for us in this draft proposal.

It does say on the BRS website that Permanent Residency is under review and is suspended,so maybe just maybe there might be a new or revised document in the pipeline.
The cost has to be weighed up as well at last count 1600TL which equates to about six and a half years annual residency not taking into account price rises every year.

This is the new law for citizenship, it is not about the "White Card" that will replace the need for Permanent Residency - See Part One, General Provisions, Interpretation 2 (1), the para that explains the "White Card".

The whole thing is only of use/interest to you if you wish to become a citizen of the TRNC and therefore be able to vote!!

For myself, I am only interested in Permanent Residency and the "White Card" that is on its way for all.
