Poor Animals !!!

Yesterday I saw 2 boys aged about 6 & 7, throwing handfulls of stones at a poor dog. He was under a parked car and couldn't get away. I shouted at the boys and they ran off.
Isn't it heart warming to know that the next generation are being educated to love, care & respect all animals.

This is one of the major problems here - no respect or kindness passed down from one generation to the next in regard to animals. The youngsters need to be taught hands on the value and worth of dogs and cats. Education is the key! Well done for stopping the boys doing this! Wendy. BBB's other half.

This is one of the reasons that KAR have an education department but usually have to be invited to the schools. When we first came here black animals were abused but this is very slowly changing. Unfortunately there are still elderly TC's who believe they (dogs and cats) are the spawn of the devil and unfortunately can pass this on to their grandchildren. I have known of black dogs being beaten because they crossed in front of a pregnant woman and in my own case I had a female assistant ambulance personnel who refused to come in to the house because we had at the time 3 little tan/cream lap dogs. She refused to come through the front door until I had grabbed them up and locked them in a bedroom. All she did was jump up and down and wave her arms around. We thought at the time my husband was having a heart attack!! Misunderstanding about animals is still rampant in some areas.

We are lucky in a lot of respects, living in a small village. A lot of our Turkish neighbours now have dogs including a lovely black rottie. We help each other out and tolerate the odd escapee, but I have heard that some people think that cats give you cancer.
It is a belief that education can change, and we are very aware that having 5 rescue dogs, boisterous b*****D's could annoy people, but up here people seem v tolerant.
I speak to the odd person who has chucked a stone and try to calm them with a few relevant Turkish words, ie Dosca, tam am, neh bite ( not good Turkish but with body language gets a message across)
