Water pump bladder
I am having to renew the bladder on my water pump yet again! Does anyone know please if it is possible to get a bladder that is made of a more robust material than the standard rubber?

Changed our old bladder system to an electronic sensor years ago, never been a problem since.
Might be worth considering.

The wife keeps complaining I never listen to a word she says ............. or something like that.

We agree go for the electric one, we got fed up of paying out for new old type ones, it seemed to go every other year.

Agree totally with the last two posts. Mine is an electronic one without the accumulator (tank with bladder).
These should really have an accumulator but they work OK without one.
Another advantage is that they will shut down if it detects that the the pump is running dry (not making pressure).

If you go for the electronic one make sure the sun does not get to it as it will fry the circuit board, this happened to me twice before I put a cover over it and now it is fine.

Thank you all for your suggestions to go electronic. I did have an electronic one fitted once but it went wrong within no time. Maybe it got too hot and they cost a lot more to replace than a bladder. I think I would rather stick to the cheap and simple option, but was really just wondering if anyone made longer lasting bladders?

Hi, if you decide to replace the bladder for an electronic switch (recommended) I would make sure you get a good one, the cheap ones wont last too long. We as a company will only fit Pedrollo brand pressure switches. We have found them very reliable and they have built in fault finding, which often helps to establish minor problems.
Hope this helps

That sounds like a good Turkish explanation, never heard of it. I have fitted many 10s of these, albeit the quality ones like Pedrollo with no come back because they are not covered. I suspect your problem lies with over voltage.jimm wrote:If you go for the electronic one make sure the sun does not get to it as it will fry the circuit board, this happened to me twice before I put a cover over it and now it is fine.

I didn't think that bladder pumps were being used anymore. Not had one for at least 5 years. We have a sensor model (I think its an Italian sounding name and it does have a fault finding facility). I have to admit we covered ours up, not for the sun but to protect it from torrential rain. No problem at all. Chuck your bladder away (in the nicest possible way of course)

Re: Water pump bladder
Hmmmph- just had the bladder variety replaced with another one of the bladder variety upon recommendation of a plumber recommended by quite a few peeps on this forum.
He said they were both as bad as each other in terms of reliability, due to the grit and other muck in the water.
Sort of puts you off forum recommendations is my conclusion!
