We bought some a few months ago at our local Pharmacy. Aydin Eczanesi at Alsancak run by our funky pharmacist Hatice.
100 gms for TL2.63. Her supplier is Guc Ecza Deposu so any pharmacy using this supplier should be able to get some for you.

The sealed plastic container is:

a. labelled "Epsom Salts ( Magnesium Sulphate BP"

b. "For relief of occasional constipation" and

c. Shows "Manufacturer and product license holder
Bell Sons & Co (Druggists) Ltd Southport
PR9 9AL, England"

I actually bought it to bring a car battery back to life - hopefully it will have a beneficial effect on others!

Him indoors is interested in the battery business. As they appear to be totally sealed, not like to old days when you could top them up, can you let me know what you do. BTW I use the Epsom salts for soaking my hands in warm water when the rheumatism gets too bad in winter.

Sophie have your tried a wax bath (i.e. melted beeswax used to aid general joint well-being).
As a child I had a little finger so badly mashed in an accident the local surgeons were going to amputate it until a visiting physician who just happened to be the Queen's own doctor overheard the discussion and asked to take look - God bless him, he spent hours rebuilding my mashed bones and then prescribed daily wax baths for several weeks for the affected finger... it's the best joint in my body! Never an ache, not affected by temperature or stiffening when really cold...

Groucho, haven't seen too many bees unfortunately, or their wax, and if what we read in the papers, what there are left in the world are fast becoming extinct because of disease. Sounds a lovely form of treatment though I must say.

Cyprus is full of bees! I would guess that virtually every community has several bee keepers and the valleys are often stuffed with hives..... particularly the region from Esentepe on towards the Karpas.

Not trying to be funny Groucho, but check out Google and bee population throughout the world. They are being wiped out in their trillions. I know about Karpaz honey and I often wonder why shops stock so much honey from other areas and countries?
